“Every way you look, Michigan’s auto insurance law is a disaster. Few Michiganders are saving any money, and thousands of our most vulnerable residents are suffering. By now, it should be clear that this ‘reform’ was nothing but a scam to pad the record profits of auto insurance companies.”

A recent survey commissioned by the Brain Injury Association of Michigan, and conducted by MPHI, a non-profit public health institute, has found that the new No-Fault Auto Insurance law’s 45% cut in reimbursements for catastrophic care has already affected more than 1,500 patients, eliminated more than 3,000 jobs, and closed down more than 20 organizations that cared for brain injury survivors.

https://www.wxyz.com/news/local-news/investigations/michigan-drivers-overcharged-1-billion-in-auto-premiums-during-pandemic-study-finds

After cutting our coverage, backing out of their promise to cover crash victims and NOT lowering our rates the insurance companies decided to overcharge Michigan drivers by 1 BILLION DOLLARS during a global pandemic. How much power are Michigan politicians allowing them to have?

Michigan drivers were overcharged more than $1 billion in auto premiums in 2020, according to a study by a national consumer advocacy group.

07/21/2021

Recent changes to Michigan’s auto insurance law is allowing companies to cut payments to caregivers by nearly half, forcing some out of business.

This is the last day to register to attend this TOWN HALL.

During this difficult and uncertain time, this town hall is being offered to help auto crash survivors and their families to better understand the stressful state of affairs regarding their rights under the Michigan no-fault insurance law. This townhall will address a wide variety of topics and concerns important to those who have been injured and their families, including;
• the rights of no-fault insurers to limit payment to injured people’s medical providers,
• the rights of insurance companies to limit payment of attendant care provided by family or friends,
• the legal challenges to the new no-fault reform rules,
• the new power of government to regulate and limit the care of auto accident survivors,
• the new rules regarding when injured people must go undergo medical evaluations at the request of their insurance company,
• a few thoughts on the best practices for injured people and their families to follow when dealing with their no-fault insurance company,
• and an update on the ongoing advocacy efforts to change the most unfair aspects of the 2019 no-fault reforms.
We hope that this virtual town hall will provide a comfortable setting for constructive and compassionate dialogue with Michigan’s injured and their families regarding their unfortunate predicaments following the 2019 no-fault reforms. No cost to CPAN Members or Become a member - $25/year (Members receive regular newsletter, event notices, legislative action alerts, notices of legal actions and all member communications)

LANSING — The Michigan legislature agreed to appropriate $25 million toward funding gaps in the state’s 2019 no-fault insurance reforms, just as a provision slashing rates paid to caregivers went

We hope to see you tomorrow!

"The Legislature had an opportunity to pass a narrow, long-term fix that would ensure survivors get the care they need, keep quality providers in business, and maintain cost controls implemented as part of the 2019 insurance reform legislation. Instead, it threw taxpayer dollars at a problem of its own making—while more than $23 billion sits unused in the Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association fund."
