We still have some pretty things to add, but this is becoming the perfect little cottage kitchen. This was the hardest room to visualize when we started. The small space had itā€™s challenges, but now it makes you just want to have a cup of tea and stare out at your garden šŸ˜

It was a late evening of wallpapering. Thankful to have a friend with me and to help with these calculationsšŸ¤Ŗ! More pictures to come (the colors are even prettier in the daylight).

We really want this entryway to be a show stopper! We uncovered beautiful wallpaper remnants as we worked on the house and it so fun to pay tribute to that and bring some beautiful color and pattern back in.

Finding the layers of wallpaper from the past has been one of my favorite parts of working on The Weber House, allowing me to imagine how the rooms would have looked decorated and put together throughout the years. šŸ„°šŸ„°

Closing in the sleeping porch to add a second full bathroom was the right choice for sure, but it did create some design/flow challenges. Still some finishing touches to go, but we love the look and functionality. It blended even better than we expected!

Was it just me that hadnā€™t seen a faucet like this before? The previous owner explained that it is an antique barberā€™s sink. This is one of my favorite marketplace purchases for the house and will be our hall bathroom sink. Just needs a little cleaning up!

New windows have made one of the biggest impacts on the appearance and function of The Weber House. We would have loved to keep the original windows, but many had been replaced over time and the ones we did have were no longer functional. We canā€™t wait to show you more before and after photos after we complete a few finishing touches on them!

Tons and tons of gravel and new floor joists gave us a sigh of relief! The Weber House has the security it needs to stand for at least another 146 years. So far lots of money spent that no one will see šŸ¤Ŗ.

We struggled with the thought of losing the original hardwood floors, but we were able to save them in the master bedroom and entry. Soon I will be able to show off how we will blend the old with the new!

I wonā€™t lie, once the foundation repair demo happened, there was a little bit of panic and some feelings of regret. Can you see it in Chrisā€™s face or was it just me? šŸ˜‚

Our local library is an amazing resource for Farmington history. Unfortunately, there isnā€™t a lot of information readily available on our house. We have not found any actual historic photos yet, but we will keep hunting! We do know that it was built in 1877 and that the first official mayor of Farmington, John A. Weber, lived here. We have also found some fun details that support the age of our home as we tackle this renovation.ā€¦ Check out this square nail! It is one of many that we recovered from this home as we repaired the foundation.

Chris and I are known for being sentimental, so when this little house in downtown Farmington went up for sale, we knew we wanted to save it. We werenā€™t exactly sure how to tackle this project, but we didnā€™t want to watch this house get turned into a quick flip, or even worse, get torn down.

We toured the house to find that a lot of the character had been removed, it smelled like years of cigarette smoke, and the floors seemed to slope like a fun house at a carnival šŸ˜‚. We didnā€™t know a lot about the history of the house at this time other than we were pretty sure the first mayor of Farmington had owned it at some point and that it was likely one of the oldest homes still standing in Farmington. This pulled at our heart strings for sure.

We decided to make the jump and try to save this little guy. We wanted to preserve what history we could and bring some life back into this little house. We are here to share this adventure with you and hope that just maybe you will fall in love with this sweet home like we haveā€¦.
