To support local drivers and tourists, Fayetteville Public Utilities has partnered with the Tennessee Valley Authority, the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation and Seven States Power Corporation to bring 2 new EV charging stations to downtown Fayetteville. Fallen power lines are often still electrically charged. If you see one, stay far away and do not attempt to touch the line. Anything the downed line is touching, such as a fence or tree, could be energized and should also be avoided.
Your friends at Fayetteville Public Utilities encourage you to stay a safe distance away and report downed power lines 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by calling 911 and FPU at 433-1522.
Sewer systems are designed to dispose of only toilet paper and human waste. Wipes (even those labeled as flushable), paper towels and hygiene products might pass through the drain, but they can create backups and costly repairs in household plumbing, sewer lines and treatment plants.
Help keep the sewer system running smoothly. Save the pipes. Don’t flush wipes.

Bad weather happens, but careless use of a generator doesn’t have to.
When using a generator, it is important to read the instruction manual, have a working carbon monoxide alarm, operate the generator in a well-ventilated, dry area and never connect a generator to your home’s electrical circuits unless an isolation device has been properly installed by a licensed electrician.
Knowing how to properly use your generator can keep your family and our utility workers safe.
At Fayetteville Public Utilities, we recognize Electrical Safety Month each May, but we practice it year-round.
Keeping our employees and customers safe is a top priority. Therefore, we provide employees with the training and resources needed to safely do their jobs, and we educate our customers about the dangers of electricity by hosting safety demonstrations at local schools and community events.
FPU is dedicated to providing uninterrupted service 24/7, but we are equally committed to keeping our community safe around electricity.
As your hometown utility provider, Fayetteville Public Utilities not only delivers reliable and affordable utility services, but we also support this community. Through youth programs like the Student Utility Board, Youth Leadership Summit and Washington Youth Tour, FPU prepares local students to be tomorrow’s leaders.
As our student board graduates, we applaud them and all our local graduates who have worked hard to achieve this milestone. Best wishes and congratulations from FPU! 🎓

Take a listen to the latest update from FPU’s CEO/General Manager Britt Dye. Our crews are still working diligently on restoring the few hundred power outages we have remaining. It has been a tough process due to the amount of fallen trees this storm caused. We ask for your patience as we continue working to get every FPU customer powered back up.
FPU had a few thousand customers without power early this morning, and that number has now gone down to 826. We appreciate your patience as we continue our restoration efforts.
If you have an outage, please make sure it is reported to us. Either give us a call at (931)433-1522 or use our SmartHub app.
Take a listen to the latest update from FPU’s CEO/General Manager Britt Dye. FPU is still responding to scattered power outages across Lincoln County. If you see any damage to power lines, please report it by giving us a call at (931)433-1522.
One of the most common causes of power outages is trees contacting power lines. To ensure the high level of reliability that you expect, Fayetteville Public Utilities trims trees near power lines.
Regular pruning of vegetation around lines maintains the integrity of the system and helps keep the electricity flowing. If you see trees growing near power lines, please call FPU at 433-1522.
What is FOG? FOG stands for fats, oils and grease, all of which can damage the sewer system and result in costly repairs.
The best way to prevent clogs and backups caused by FOG is to never pour fats, oils or grease down the drain. Instead, let the grease cool, pour it into a disposable container and place it in the trash.
Trash the FOG and help Fayetteville Public Utilities prevent clogs!
FPU’s next Customer Appreciation Day will take place on Monday, April 29, from 5:00 until 6:30 p.m. at the Blanche Fire Department located at 1653 Ardmore Highway.

Future events will be held at Petersburg and Fayetteville. We look forward to seeing you!
