Backcountry Journeys Photography Tours & Workshops offer you a seamless adventure travel experience where we handle the details so you can focus on photography. Our world-class service and small groups allow for a personalized experience that allows you plenty of one on one time with your photography guide. Backcountry Journeys offers lodge-based Photography Tours and wilderness camping trips as well as daily photo tours in the most pristine and remote mountains, deserts and wilderness areas of the world. We meticulously research and tirelessly scout every visually stunning destination to ensure you get the best possible experience from the moment you arrive. Our professional guides will share with you their wealth of experience photographing landscapes & wildlife all over the world, and through the years we have discovered off the beaten path locations that are usually reserved for locals. At times we work with local guides who live in the regions we visit and can provide exclusive access to some excellent photographic opportunities.

Joining a Backcountry Journeys Photography Tour is embarking on the trip of lifetime. Really. All of our locations are hand selected by Russ Nordstrand to provide you with unique one of a kind photographic experiences. It’s like no other kind of journey – on our tours you may find yourself waiting for that magical dawn on a cold, dark morning in Yosemite to photograph El Capitan at first light with mist rising from the valley. Or you might be working on capturing translucent rainbows in the sprays of Lone Star Geyser in Yellowstone National Park – it’s up to you!

Backcountry Journeys Photography Tours & Workshops include most meals, lodging, ground transportation while on the tour, National Park entrance fees, guide fees and other items essential to a successful trip – meaning that once your there all you have to worry about is your experience.
