It's that time of year when we celebrate the whale! 🐳

It wasn’t that long ago that an Exploding Whale Day seemed like a wild idea, a fever dream born from a viral video pulled out of the depths of Oregon history, but in Florence the event has become a full-fledged holiday, this year expanded into a weeklong celebration capped off by a big commemoration on Sunday.

Driftwood Shores & Sand Master Sandboarding invite you to “Celebrate Sand” all summer long in Florence!

We want to see sand sculptures, sand castles, sand designs or even build a little creation on your sandboard! Large or small, it’s all about healthy sand fun! 🏰

(And please be mindful to pack out any unnatural sand tools! We want to be good to our whales and sea-life) 🐳

A distinguished panel of community leaders & artists will be selecting 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners by the end of September.

First place winner will receive:

- One Night in an oceanfront room at Driftwood Shores
