Wayback Wednesday is our weekly feature that travels into our past, sometimes just a bit but sometimes quite further.
We've had some chilly days this week! This morning was...ahh...brisk lol. Still...no snow. It didn't snow a flake last year. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know it doesn't snow much here. But it happens...and rarely we get a lot, such as in 1973 when the area got up to two feet! Needless to say, since it hardly ever snows here we don't have the equipment on standby to deal with it, so we basically shut down until it melts (which is usually very quickly because temperatures never stay below freezing for long). This unidentified guy put his tractor to use on Palmetto Street near the Sky View Drive Inn pictured in the background. Interestingly enough, while Florence's Village inn Pizza Parlor is gone the business still has many locations in North Carolina. The Betty Stevens Style Center we think became the Betty Stevens Cosmetology Institute, which only shut down here in 2019. The once very popular Sky View that dated back to the 1960s was closed when it burned down about 15 years ago.
Does anyone know who this person was/is on the tractor? Also feel free to share any snow pictures from the past from Florence, recent or otherwise!

The Florence Lions Club 41st annual Toy Run reaches its peak this Sunday at noon the Florence Center! We will post additional info in the comments.

Community Broadcasters and the Florence Lions Club want to say THANK YOU to everyone who donates to support the Ton Of Toys Toy Drive! All donations will go to benefit the 41st Annual Florence Lion's Club Toy Run, and will stay here in the local community to help brighten the holidays for local P*e Dee kids and families.
