Plants are back in the flower pots and hammock is back out and ready (albeit a bit wet in this picture 🌧️ ). Would appreciate any guests to water the three pots on the back deck. There’s a water pitcher under the bar sink. ❤️

Fixing the antique pump decoration that had fallen over when we got here. It had been sitting on a wood base that rotted away. He tore that out and will make a concrete base and secure it on that. It makes a neat little decoration. It’s sitting behind him.

Super cool app that shows the mountains and elevations. This is from our upper back deck. The mountains look much closer here than the picture shows.

We found another relative to Blinky, Blondie, and Big Bubba. He needs a name. He’s very shy so we don’t know how they’re related. Help us name him! A name with a B is preferred.
Update: it’s their brother!! The family is complete! Still taking name suggestions.

If you come to stay at the Lazy Bear, don’t miss out on visiting the Cripple Creek Ice Castle. It’s so cool-literally! Made of all ice, once you enter you can stay as long as you want. Dress warm, it’s all outside, open air. Go just before sunset to see it in both the daylight and lit up at night. By tickets in advance. While you’re in town, eat at McGill’s and do a little gambling at any of the many casinos downtown and check out the newest casino, Chamonix. Cripple Creek is only 16 miles from the cabin. Scenic high, windy roads going through Divide or lower, windy roads going through Florissant. Link for tickets in comments.

Animal cam update from the Lazy Bear Lodge! Looks like we caught a coyote on the cam, which is a first. There is also a cute little fox. It looks like our two baby deer have grown up and one is now a handsome buck! I’ll put the others in the comments. It will only let me select one video.

Coming the end of December through March in Cripple Creek, about a 30 min drive from the cabin! Should be worth the drive!

11 Mile Canyon is a sight to behold. Around a $9 entrance fee for the day per car ($5 military). So worth the short drive from the cabin to see this beautiful part of CO! ❤️

Want to know of a stellar place to take in the beauty of Colorado that is close to the cabin? It's 11 Mile Canyon just down I-24 towards Lake George. It's absolutely gorgeous. A small park fee is required upon entry but you can spend the day there if you'd like. Grab a picnic lunch, go for a hike, and dip your toes in the icy water of the Platte River!

Rita the Rock Planter, a troll built out of pallets, was fun to see. About a 30 min drive from the cabin to Victor, CO on the Little Grouse Mountain Trail. There is a parking lot down below where you can hike up the road, BUT you can also drive up that road to a parking lot much closer (there are not signs that say that. 😉) You still have some hiking to do to get to Rita, though the path is rocky, it’s relatively flat and not difficult. Beautiful scenery just past Rita as well. Afterward visit Victor or Cripple Creek for lunch or gambling, if you’re into that.

Blanky Bear is a favorite at the Lazy Bear. 🐻 Unfortunately, he received some injuries and required transportation to a specialized hospital in another state for underarm surgery. 😥
He’s received wonderful care and the surgeon said he did fantastic. ❤️ He’s going to be in recovery for about a month before returning to the Lazy Bear. He’s sad to miss the next few guests.

Lazy Bear upgrade and repair! After having the lights pulled down from the Lazy Bear Den, we reinstalled them hopefully more securely. We were sad to see they had been pulled down and that some guests children didn’t get to go in the lit up den. If you missed out on the lights and other improvements, come back to visit!

Who’s ready to play some Connect 4? We’re not sure if this will be its final resting place, but it works for now. We originally bought it for the deck, but are concerned the disks may slip through some of the spacing in the deck.

Lazy Bear upgrade for the nicer months. It will be put away for the winter. This hammock is sooo comfy! Nice Sunbrella material to keep it from fading and a pillow for extra comfort.

Lazy Bear upgrade! A screen for the master bedroom balcony door with a remote for opening and closing. August is our hottest month up here with no AC, so being able to open doors and windows w/o bugs coming in is essential. Video in comments.

A nice small mountain town restaurant that is very popular is The Pantry. Located in Green mountain Falls just past Woodland Park going towards Manitou. On nice days, they open up the outside garden seating. There is a stream that runs through and we had live music. Down home cooking, home made bread and cinnamon rolls. It’s a great place to visit for breakfast or lunch.
