Beginning May 7th of next year you will need a REAL ID (or passport) to travel anywhere in the USA. Since you don't want to lose your passport I would recommend getting the REAL ID.

Beginning next year, you won't be able to travel domestically with your state issued driver's license or ID card. Here's what you'll need instead.

NOTE about Mexico's new smoking laws - they are VERY strict and you can only smoke in designated areas at the hotel - and some hotels are too small and may not even have a smoking area. If you smoke outside of that area you can be fined quite a lot. ALSO - DO NOT bring in more than 10 packs of ci******es - I heard of someone being fined well over $1,000 for bringing in one extra pack!!

YAY! St Louis is getting nonstop flights to one of our favorite destinations - PUERTO VALLARTA!! The flights are on Alaska Airlines and are available to book now for 7 nights on Saturdays only from January 25th - March 29th, 2025. Some of the best sunsets I have ever seen were here - it is on the Pacific Ocean and faces west. Great downtown area and beautiful mountains.

Some good news from Lahaina on Maui. One of my favorite restaurants is re-opening after being closed for 5 months!! Their building was not damaged as much. If you are on Maui I highly recommend this place - and be sure to ask for a table outside on their deck - it is right next to the ocean!!

The award-winning Mala Ocean Tavern restaurant reopened Thursday on Maui, after being closed for five months, and is now taking reservations. The building survived the Maui wildfires, and it's one of the few oceanfront structures still standing in Old Lahaina Town.

Secrets Impressions Moxche in the Riviera Maya, Mexico. Just had some of our very best clients return from the brand new Secrets Impressions Moxche. They have been to a lot of very nice resorts and they both agreed this was the best so far. They have exchange privileges with Secrets Moxche next door. The food, service, and drinks were excellent. They especially enjoyed their 7 course meal with wine pairings at Teodoro!! This was free with stays of 5 nights or more at Impressions. Their breakfast at the Seaside restaurant was also excellent. The pools were beautiful and plentiful!!

We have a couple at Bucuti right now - this is their second time there!! They love it!! Bucuti was just rated the NUMBER ONE hotel in the Caribbean by Trip Advisor. NOT all inclusive but it is adults only and on possibly the best beach in the Caribbean.

Tripadvisor unveiled its Best of the Best hotels and Bucuti & Tara is the only Caribbean hotel represented in the Top 25 in the World.

LATEST PASSPORT PROCESSING TIMES - it keeps getting slower. If you really need them quickly you can either set up an appointment at an office in Chicago or Arkansas or you can use a passport expediting service (make sure they are reputable). Here is the latest on the State Department website:

NEW SMOKING LAW IN MEXICO - You can still smoke in designated areas at hotels as long as they are not too close to areas where people gather. One hotel said they still allowed smoking on the balconies. This includes Va**ng. From what I understand you cannot bring va**ng equipment into Mexico in your luggage - and they don't allow the sale of it either. See the below:

Saw a few resorts on my recent trip to Cancun. One that was pleasantly surprising was the Planet Hollywood Cancun (not really in Cancun - but north of it in Costa Mujeres).
