We are excited to announce the launch of a new boating education class - all for women! This class will take place each quarter and be presented in 6 parts so you can choose the topics that interest you or join for the whole session. Or, grab a group of girlfriends and schedule a private session with the topics of your choice whenever you'd like!

Capt. Weatherly found this knobbed whelk yesterday and got quite a surprise when picking it up! It's rare for us to find such a large living whelk, especially sitting on top of the sand. Check out the animal twisting itself back into the shell to better be covered by the operculum - the hard "door" that protects the whelks soft body from predators. Please be sure to leave any living whelks (or hermit crabs in nonliving shells!) on the beach. Good morning dolphins! This group put on a little show as we drifted down the river yesterday. Dolphins are a protected species and it is unlawful to approach them within 50 yards (~150')!'. When a pod approaches in a narrow creek, we like to turn off the engine and drift with the current. Dolphins are quite curious and will occasionally swim right by, but we like to let them choose the distance so as to not create distress. We love finding dolphins and sharing the experience with guests, all while respecting the wildlife. Yesterday morning I saw a sea star washed up on the beach near where we parked the boat. As I walked over to put it back in the water, it lifted up and started marching back into the creek! It didn't take long for it to get to the safety of deeper water and bury back down in the sand. What a lucky moment to experience. -Capt.
