It's been a minute since I've posted a Helene update. Recovery and rebuilding is continuing in Western North Carolina.

Today I'm sharing info from Explore Asheville. There is a list of locations reopening and travel information. While you should plan ahead before visiting our beautiful mountain areas, we do need you to travel! WNC relies on tourism in the fall!

As always, if you want to find ways to help the area, please reach out! I'm happy to connect you to organizations I know who are keeping dollars right here in our mountains.

I am back in the office today for a full day, the first time since Sept. 26. It feels weird, y'all. And a little wrong, when so many others are still struggling just to find their footing on normal day-to-day.

I am resuming sending out travel information and reminders to my clients today as well. As I am doing so, I am also praying for their well-being and safety. Even if all you lost was power and cellular, Helene was profound.

So as I get back to business as usual, please know that nothing is usual as I go about my day. My heart and soul are still aching for friends who have witnessed first-hand the devastation brought to their communities by Helene. I will be continuing to find ways to help and support them and the rest of my beloved Western North Carolina.

I'm including one of my favorite photos from Chimney Rock that was taken when I was pregnant with my oldest son. I immediately thought of this picture after seeing the photos of the devastation in that area. Just as I was close to the birth of something (someone!) amazing, I firmly believe that Western North Carolina will recover and come back stronger than ever from this event.

This isn’t just some random county. This is my home. This is where my family lives. My friends, neighbors, and community. Please pray for us as we navigate the coming days, weeks, and months. This is unprecedented and catastrophic to all of us that call this place home. People are pulling together and making it work. Our resilience is unmatched and we will recover. Please be kind and help whoever you can. Thank a first responder. Let the power companies and their trucks through. Buy them a drink. Talk to a stranger. Your words of encouragement may be what gets them through the day. We are all exhausted and scared of what the next few hours will bring. Just please be patient and kind. We are all going through this together!

For those who may follow this page:
I live about a half hour from Lake Lure and Chimney Rock, which was catastrophically damaged from Helene. My focus for the time being is on how I can help my community in recovering. I will be sharing ways you can help soon. For now, prayers are appreciated for my beloved Western North Carolina.

Ten years ago I made it "Facebook official" that I'd become a travel advisor. In the past 10 years I've grown my business from just planning Disney vacations to include more cruise lines, the Caribbean, Mexico, domestic travel, and Europe.
