Holy Thursday, also referred to as Maundy Thursday, Green gumbo is a food tradition.

Gumbo Z’herbes, a Lenten tradition in Louisiana, was a way for Creoles to enjoy a flavorful meal while observing meatless fasting days. Traditionally made with an odd number of greens—symbolizing new friendships—this vibrant dish has evolved over time. While some stick to the classic meat-free version, others add seafood or meats, like Chef Leah Chase’s beloved Holy Thursday gumbo. No matter how you make it, the beauty of Gumbo Z’herbes lies in its adaptability and rich, comforting flavor.

Yes, teachers and faculty look forward to spring break just as much as the students, it provides a much-needed opportunity to recharge, de-stress, and prepare for the remainder of the school year.

We had an absolutely amazing experience with Bentley Travel Service for our 2025 spring break trip to Aruba! From start to finish, everything was seamless. They took care of all the details—flights, resort, and excursions—so we could just relax and enjoy paradise.

Bentley recommended some unforgettable excursions, and they did not disappoint. The party bus was a total blast and a great way to experience Aruba’s nightlife with a fun crowd. The natural pool jeep adventure was equally incredible—off-roading through the rugged landscape and swimming in a hidden gem was a major highlight of our trip!

The team was professional, responsive, and genuinely committed to making our vacation perfect. One helpful tip—please make sure you plan for at least 3+ hours at the airport for your return flight. Aruba’s departure process can take a while, so give yourself plenty of time.

CELEBRATION KEY

Carnival's private destination

Opening in July Celebration Key will be a flagship destination for the Carnival Cruise Line brand at Grand Bahama. The area will feature several zones, including a family area, a private club, an adults-only section and a faux sandcastle with waterslides.
Another project is the rebranding and expansion of Half Moon Cay, a private destination in the Bahamas used primarily by Holland America Line and Carnival Cruise Line. Carnival Corp. plans to rename it Relaxaway Half Moon Cay to convey a leisurely experience.

Carnival will marry the two contrasting island experiences with itineraries that will visit both the upbeat Celebration Key and the chill Relaxaway Half Moon Cay on one sailing.

It's Cherry Blossom Time!

History of the Cherry Trees

The tradition of celebrating the blooming of cherry trees in Japan is centuries old.

The planting of cherry trees in Washington DC originated in 1912 as a gift of friendship to the People of the United States from the People of Japan.

In Japan, the flowering cherry tree, or "Sakura," is an important flowering plant. The beauty of the cherry blossom is a symbol with rich meaning in Japanese culture.

For more than a hundred years, the U.S. has celebrated cherry trees blooming in solidarity.

What is the difference between Global Entry and TSA PreCheck?

Global Entry:
• Purpose: Expedites customs and immigration processing when returning to the U.S. from international travel.
• Benefits: Includes TSA PreCheck benefits, allows you to skip long customs lines by using self-service kiosks, and eliminates the need for an in-person customs interview and paperwork.
• Who it's for: Primarily for international travelers.
• Cost: $120 for a 5-year membership.
• Application: Apply online through the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) website and attend an enrollment center for an interview.
• Important Note: If you have Global Entry, you automatically have TSA PreCheck benefits.

TSA PreCheck:
• Purpose: Streamlines security screening at airport security checkpoints for flights departing from U.S. airports.
• Benefits: Allows you to keep shoes, belts, and light jackets on, leave laptops and liquids in your bag, and potentially wait less than 10 minutes for security.
• Who it's for: Primarily for domestic travelers.
• Cost: $78-$85 for a 5-year membership.
• Application: Apply online through the TSA website and attend an enrollment center for an interview.

Happy First Day of Spring!

Amsterdam comes alive with flowers in the parks, sunshine in the skies, and boats along the canals. Visiting Amsterdam in spring is an enchanting, colorful experience that belongs on every traveler’s bucket list.

You’ll find plenty of flowers around the city, but for the entire floral experience, nothing beats a trip to Holland’s world-famous flower strip, or ‘bollenstreek’. Head to Keukenhof Gardens between March and May for the best blooms, or get involved in Amsterdam’s annual Tulip Festival, which runs throughout April.
