In June, Karina had the incredible opportunity to volunteer at Ecofinca Alma Verde in Itiquis, Alajuela, Costa Rica, for her Community Care Day. 🌳 She spent the day planting native trees around the finca, contributing to the growth and preservation of this beautiful environment. The Brazilian Tourist Board (Embratur) has notably postponed the requirement for entry visas for passport holders from Australia, Canada, and the United States until April 10, 2024. This significant extension is designed to facilitate the completion of the E-Visa system's implementation. The delay aims to ensure that the introduction of the new system does not disrupt the influx of tourists from these countries during their peak travel seasons.

To elaborate further, Embratur's VFS Electronic Visa (eVisa) platform, initially announced for launch on December 1, requires citizens of the U.S., Canada, and Australia to obtain authorization to enter Brazil. The visa application, which incurs a fee of $89 per person, can be completed online.

This eVisa allows multiple entries over several years, specific to the holder's nationality: 10 years for American citizens and 5 years for Canadian and Australian citizens. The processing time for the application, available through the vfs.global website, is approximately five working days.

Upon approval, travelers receive a PDF file via email containing their eVisa, which they must print and also store on their smartphones. Travelers with dual nationality are advised to apply under the country issuing their travel documents. Those who already possess a valid physical visa for their intended period of travel to Brazil are exempt from applying for the new visa.

The eVisa program intends to streamline and accelerate the visa application and issuance process, making it more efficient and user-friendly. In 2023, Brazil experienced a 74% increase in international visitors compared to 2022, with a total of 4.78 million travelers between January and October. U.S. tourists notably contributed to this increase, with 483,000 visiting from January to September, the second-highest number after Argentina.

Beginning January 10, 2024, Australian, Canadian, and U.S. passport holders will need an e-Visa to enter Brazil. However, if you already have a valid physical visa in your passport for the purpose of your visit, a new visa application is not necessary. Additionally, those holding Diplomatic or Special Passports are also required to obtain an e-Visa for entry.

Hokkaido Trip with Camila Duarte, Jim Kane, and Lucas Studer!

Three Exito Travel Delegates took a trip to Hokkaido, Japan to attend The Adventure Travel World Summit hosted by The Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) from September 11-15, 2023.

The Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) organizes an annual event known as ATWS to showcase a host destination's adventure travel offerings. Approximately 800 attendees, or Delegates, participate in this premier event. Before the main event, there are Pre-Summit Adventures, where local tour operators lead Delegates on multi-day excursions, often involving hiking and unique experiences. The first day, known as the Day of Adventure (DOA), features a wide range of activities, such as rafting, soba noodle making, and visits to scenic spots. The second day includes an opening keynote address, informative sessions, and interactive content. This year's event featured a koto player and calligraphy artist during the keynote. The event also includes an opening ceremony with a unique backdrop, like skiers on an Olympic ski jump. Subsequent days involve more sessions and a marketplace for buyers to meet suppliers from around the world.

Exito Travel's Throwback Thursday features our International Kristina Ketelsen. She utilized her Exito Travel benefit to travel with her partner to secure a round-trip ticket to Mallorca. Before heading there Kristina and her partner Ken shared a wonderful experience during their getaway in Africa around four safari nights and allowed themselves to unwind both before and after their Botswana adventure. They explored Cape Town before embarking on their safari and visited Victoria Falls afterward, encountering various wildlife and new experiences along the way.

Meet this member in Exito's Group Reservations Department, Olivera Maria Petkovska, the star of our Community Care Spotlight! On her Community Care day, Olivera dedicated her time to volunteering in a local community garden that plays a vital role in supporting a food program for those in need. The vegetables grown in this garden are essential in feeding hungry individuals within the community.

Not only does the garden address the issue of hunger, but it also offers valuable green space for people to enjoy and serves as a crucial hub for carbon absorption and cooling the earth. Located at 2500 Georgia Ave S, MN 55426, the Nelson Park community gardens are a commendable project initiated by St. Louis Park Minnesota.

This initiative involves renting plots from the city to cultivate vegetables and nurture pollinators within the park, with a percentage of the produce dedicated to the STEP Program. Throughout the season, the community comes together for park and garden cleaning events, as well as group food donations. On other occasions, a dedicated individual ensures that the harvest is delivered to the STEP Program daily.

Given the St. Louis Park population of roughly 50,000, STEP is playing a significant role in supporting 10,000 underprivileged individuals with essential resources such as food, school supplies, clothing, and more. Remarkably, the STEP Program stands out by providing fresh and healthy food to its clients, thanks in part to the contributions of our small but impactful garden community, which provides organic vegetables to support their cause."
