Starting May 7th, U.S. travelers aged 18 and over will be required to use an enhanced "Real ID" featuring a gold star for check-in and TSA security screenings if they are using a state-issued driver's license or ID card as identification. Those who do not have a Real ID can alternatively use a valid passport. Without one of these forms of identification, adult travelers will not be allowed through TSA security checkpoints.

iStarting January 8, 2025, travelers from 48 non-EU countries who previously did not require a visa to enter the UK will now need an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before they can fly to the country. This new system requires travelers to apply online or via an official app and pay a non-refundable fee of £10. The application process includes uploading a passport photo and providing personal information, with the entire process taking about 20 minutes online. Decisions are generally given within three days.

The ETA is valid for two years, allows multiple entries, and is linked to the individual’s passport. It's required even for short transits through UK airports and does not cover entry into Europe, for which an ETIAS will be needed starting later in 2025. The ETA scheme, which began for Gulf Cooperation Council nationals in 2024, will be extended to include travelers from the US, Canada, Australia, and other non-European countries. While it's described as a visa waiver rather than a visa, it's mandatory for all travelers, including infants.

Our very own, Emilie Czepyga, spent 10 days in Bali, choosing to stay primarily in Ubud to immerse themselves fully in one location rather than city-hopping. She cherished being at the heart of activity, exploring Bali's lush forests, waterfalls, rice fields, and temples. Although Emilie acknowledged the coastline's allure, she decided to save that experience for a future visit. The local hospitality, stunning landscapes, tranquil atmosphere, and delicious cuisine made the solo trip exceptionally rejuvenating. Despite traveling alone, Emilie never felt isolated due to the locals' warmth and met many people.

Emilie has traveled to the Pura Dalem Temple, rice fields in Ubud, Campuhan Ridge, Temple of the Story of Humanity, Besakih Temple, Tirtagangga, and Banyumala Twin Waterfalls. Enthralled by her experience, she is eager to return to Bali, feeling a strong connection to the place amidst the world's vastness.

Starting in May 2025, United Airlines will introduce five new nonstop flights from its New York/Newark hub to unique destinations not served by any other U.S. airline. These destinations include Nuuk, Greenland; Palermo, Italy; Bilbao, Spain; Madeira Island, Portugal; and Faro, Portugal. Additionally, three new nonstop routes will be added from Washington D.C./Dulles, including United's first-ever year-round flight to Dakar, Senegal, and new seasonal routes to Nice, France, and Venice, Italy.

United will also expand its international service from Tokyo-Narita with new direct flights to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, and Kaohsiung, Taiwan, as well as a nonstop flight to Koror, Palau, connecting with United's transpacific routes.

As the largest airline globally, United offers more international destinations than any other U.S. carrier. Next summer, United will operate 800 daily flights to and from 147 international destinations, including 40 exclusive to the airline.

This week's Throwback Thursday highlights our very own Kaling Phung, who experienced her first trip abroad in Barcelona, Spain. During her time there, Kaling participated in the University of Oregon's Architecture Program, where she studied urban design and immersed herself in Spanish culture, including a memorable field trip to Granada. Outside of her academic pursuits, Kaling joined a running club and took part in the El Corte Inglés 10k race. Interestingly, Exito Travel originally began by assisting students with study abroad opportunities.

This Throwback Thursday features our own Angela Fuenalida's Community Care service. At a recent retail meeting, Angela shared stories about her volunteer work with elderly women. She explained that it all started when she organized a lunch for her mother's group of friends, which led her to help them plan trips as part of her professional expertise. Over time, this group evolved into a small community organization called "Club de Adulto Mayor Revivir." These women, who have worked hard their whole lives, now enjoy their time to the fullest. Angela takes pride in helping them make the most of their time, even assisting with technology. The group now refers to her as their "trip and fun coordinator."

TMLA, or Travel Mart Latin America, was held in Quito, Ecuador this year! Exito has been participating in the event since at least 2008, with the location rotating annually across Latin America. We attend to strengthen relationships with current partners and explore opportunities with new ones. This year, Tiffanie Smith and Veronica Sanchez attended the event for the first time!

Every Thursday, they organize activities that tap into their skills like painting, drawing, weaving, and even Bingo to keep them active and engaged. It’s a joy to be part of this project that started in June 2024, making a difference in their lives and in our community. 💛

The project protects the region from deforestation, illegal logging, and wildlife trafficking while promoting sustainable livelihoods for the community. It implements climate-smart farming, legal land rights for Indigenous communities, and alternative income programs. In addition, the project enhances local well-being through education, healthcare, clean water access, and biodiversity protection, all while mitigating climate change by preserving over 412,000 acres of forest.

In June, Karina had the incredible opportunity to volunteer at Ecofinca Alma Verde in Itiquis, Alajuela, Costa Rica, for her Community Care Day. 🌳 She spent the day planting native trees around the finca, contributing to the growth and preservation of this beautiful environment. Knowing these trees will stand tall for generations fills her with pride and joy. Here’s to nurturing nature and giving back to our planet! 🌱
