Here are some pictures of the bears we saw at Lake Clark National Park, Alaska and us humans. It was cold and misty with swarms of bugs in the meadow, but a once in a lifetime experience! The salmon don't get this far until August, so they feed on clams and grass until then. These are Coastal Brown Bears, like the inland Grizzlies, except bigger due to more food sources. The bears don't equate humans with food so they don't mind people around. Also they don't attack 3 or more people in a group. We walked single file or bunched together, depending on the circumstance and never approached closer than 50 ft, but they may choose to come closer.

Today we flew from Homer to Lake Clark National Park to see bears. They were digging for clams at low tide and as the tide came in, they went to the meadow to eat sedges (grass). Here are a couple of video clips.

We are staying at the end of the Homer Spit below.

I was filming this little harbor seal swimming by when there was an ice fall from the top of the Glacier (looks like a waterfalls, but it is ice falling) and more seals warming up on an ice chunk

I made a movie of video clips of our whale encounters on or Kenai NW Fjords from Seward, AK cruise today. I watched an hour of YouTube trying to figure out how to edit the slow spots, but gave up for now. This shows how long the wait is between surfacing, even when the whales are in sight.

We saw several groups of Stellar Sea Lions today on our Kenai Fjords tour

On the way to Seward from Anchorage we caught the Bore Tide in Turnagain Arm. And we caught surfers riding the wave. Only one made it. Phone camera goes in and out of focus.

This afternoon we took the Anchorage All Around 4hr tour, to see some things outside our walking range. Our guide Chris was awesome and we were the only ones signed up for the afternoon so we had a private tour! First we went to the ULU knife factory (native Alaskan knives) and of course I just had to have one. Other photos are of Beluga Point, (low tide so no Belugas) Falls Creek and Potter Marsh- popular with migrating birds)

Today we walked around old town Anchorage down to the water, the Alaska Railroad depot, a bit of the Coastal Trail, Visitor Center, did a little shopping and had lunch. Beautiful flower gardens all over town! This afternoon we are doing the Anchorage All Around tour.
