Dear Friends,

It is with deep sadness and very heavy hearts we inform you that Jeff Burto, President of Sunbound, passed away last night in Fort Lauderdale. Jeff was surrounded by friends and family over the last several days and we know he felt our presence.

There are no words to express how much we will miss Jeff and the impact he made in all of our lives both personally and professionally.

As the Sunbound Family moves forward, we will cherish the wonderful memories we have of Jeff and carry him in our hearts always.

The Government of The Bahamas has been informed that it will receive 128,700 doses of the Pfizer vaccine donated by the Government of the United States of America on Thursday, 12 August, Prime Minister the Most Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis announced in the House of Assembly on Wednesday.

The vaccines are due to arrive by flight at 1:30pm tomorrow, said Prime Minister Minnis. He was speaking in the debate on the Resolution to extend the Emergency Powers Orders.

The Pfizer vaccine will be available to adults 18 and older and to children 12 to 17 years old with the consent of a parent or guardian.

Tomorrow’s delivery will make up the first tranche of an expected 397,000 total doses donated by the US Government to The Bahamas through CARICOM. The US Government is delivering nearly 837,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine to Caribbean nations.

As of Friday, vaccinated travelers entering The Bahamas will be required to obtain a rapid antigen test or PCR test, with a negative result, within five days of travel. Only children under the age of two will be exempt from the new testing requirements.
