Dancing the night away in Explorer’s Lounge last evening for our final formal event.
Our final formal evening spent dancing in Explorer’s Lounge. It’s been a blast cruising and dancing with everyone the past 10 days. Today is rather relaxed with early dance workshops and casual attire. Of course we are dancing this evening too. Have to get in those final waltzes and cha-chas.
Waltz workshop with Martin.
Yesterday our group worked on waltz technique — movement and posture. At the end of the video, you can see how, using these concepts, just basic right and left turns can turn into something beautiful.
What is posture?
We have just begun our waltz lesson with Martin. This little 2 minute video about posture is so valuable to social and student dancers. Posture is something to maintain—but it isn’t (per se) “held.” Later we will post a recap of the full lesson. This kind of information and training is an integral part of the value of traveling with Dancers at Sea.”
Cruising is just so much fun. Add in great dancing and it’s perfect.
We are in port at the French island of Guadalupe (gwad-a-loop). Most dancers are still on island adventures right now. Others are just enjoying the Caribbean sun and the beautiful Caribbean Princess. Our 2024/25 New Year voyage is already listed on our website. So, if you couldn’t make it this year or want to join us again on New Year’s, you can reserve now. (PS: we have some fantastic, destinations listed besides New Year’s. Check it out! Link below.

After a fun day in the Barbadian sun, everyone retired to Club Fusion for … more ballroom. It appears that many still had plenty of energy for a Viennese waltz.

A couple days ago we had an excellent rumba lesson with Todd. In this video, he demonstrates the patterns with Amy. We covered two types of turns, the slow walk-around (6-count) and the ladies quick turn. By the end of the class, everyone had mastered it. During the class, Todd also covered rumba technique—and some points for advanced dancers.
New Years Eve Party
What a fabulous evening. We started off the festivities laughing hysterically at Troy Thirdgill, an Irish comedian. Then off to dine on filet mignon, lobster and baked Alaska. 😋 We then enjoyed the theater show, “Broadway Ballroom.” Of course we ended the evening with a dance party and champagne in The Explorers Lounge. Dancing and cruising—such a great combination.
St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands
Today we made port at St. Thomas. The best part of cruising with Dancers At Sea is that we stop in gorgeous places to have travel fun. Whether it’s taking the “Sky Ride to Paradise” to enjoy amazing vistas or shopping for pirate souvenirs, we are always enjoying our ports of call … before we return to dancing. Which voyage will you be on in 2024?
Foxtrot Workshop12/29/23
Today’s Foxtrot lesson with pros Brandon and Amber focused on the foundation of American Smooth Foxtrot. Even our advanced student dancers appreciated reminders on technique like: taking dance position, collecting your feet underneath you as you move through the step, and that a “slow” is two beats. We are so fortunate to have amazing professional instructors along with us on every cruise to share their skill with our guests.
Just one more post today if you don’t mind. Our group is really tearing up the floor tonight to live music in the Explorer’s Lounge. We have almost 80 on this voyage. Hope you’ll be joining us soon.
