The World has sailed the legendary Northwest Passage twice during two historic expeditions. During its journeys across the Canadian Arctic, Residents witnessed incredible sights. Among the sealife and wildlife spotted were beluga whales, orcas, polar bears, narwhal, musk oxen, seabirds, seals, and a huddle of walrus sunning themselves on some rocks. Helicopter flights offered spectacular aerial views. The epic adventures made history as the largest vessel to traverse the passage in both directions, sailing eastbound from the Pacific Ocean one year, and westbound from the Atlantic on another year.

The stunningly beautiful Tuamotus and Marquesas islands offered The Worldʼs Residents endless options for exploration during its French Polynesia Expedition. In this remote area of the Pacific, the ship island-hopped, exploring Tahiti and some of the largest atolls in Polynesia. Among countless experiences were hiking to ancient archaeological sites and diving underwater reefs rich in marine life. The mystical Marquesas Islands revealed some of the most recently formed volcanic islands on Earth. Our community was welcomed by the people of Fakahina atoll with music, cheers, coconut cakes, and beautiful shell jewelry. Incredibly, they never had a ship visit before. Guided by EYOS Expeditions, it was a once-in-a lifetime sojourn through one of the most magical regions on Earth.

Among our most cherished memories living on The World are in-depth expeditions to the most remote locales on Earth. From our homes at sea, we travel to places most only dream of – in complete luxury. Together, we broke the Guinness World Record for Furthest South Sailed during our Ross Sea Expedition in Antarctica and were greeted by ancient, giant tortoises who stuck out their necks seeking a friendly scratch during our Madagascar & Aldabra Expedition. In Papua New Guinea we observed the Baining peoples’ iconic and rarely seen sacred fire dance ritual through flames that lit the night sky and witnessed the unexpected underwater eruption of Kavachi, an active submarine volcano.
