If you are staying on the Crikvenica Riviera, here are eight great places my born and raised Croatian local husband, Igor, and I highly recommend visiting in this charming, seaside city that are sure to make your stay most enjoyable. This includes our favorite beach 🏖️ restaurant 🍽️ cafe ☕️ bar 🍸 bakery 🥖 and market 🛒 We always return to these places every time we are in Crikvenica and if we have family or friends visiting, we make sure to take them at least once to these great spots.

Summer, or ljeto in Croatian, ☀️ is one of the most popular times of the year to visit Croatia. That’s why summertime in Croatia is called “tourist season.” There are positive and negatives to visiting Croatia in the summer. You cannot think about this season without thinking about the beach and Croatia has got a ton of them, not only along the lengthy coastline but on the over 1,000 of its islands as well 🏖️ Favorite summer outdoor activities include all kinds of water sports, hiking routes, cycling trails, camping, golfing and more and there are all kinds of festivals and events to participate in too.

🫒Olive oil, or maslinovo ulje in Croatian, is also called ✨liquid gold✨ and many olive oil producers from Croatia have won international awards and other high accolades for their oil. Olive groves can easily be found throughout many areas of the country, especially in the regions of Istria, Dalmatia and several islands. Olive oil is used in or on a lot of the food in Croatia. You are much more likely to see locals put olive oil on their food than butter or margarine. If you really want to look like a tourist you will ask for butter for your bread, but olive oil is much healthier and in Croatia, I promise, it tastes so much better!
