Off the Hook Charters and Captain Perry made sure our fishing experience was amazing! We spent the morning catching Pompano, flounder, pig fish, trout, and those big sheepshead! We even had to throw some back (well they may have been too small😂). Captain Perry should enter a casting contest. The casts were perfectly on target and landed right in the fishes mouths! Mine landed solidly next to the boat. Our fish were cleaned with expertise but we were told that is where the experience ends- now WE get to cook and eat them!

While staying at Lazy Latitudes be sure to take the dogs over to Gulf Shores state park for a safe swim. Warm water, a hose to rinse off the salt water, and a fenced in area. There was even an ice cream truck waiting outside when we were done! Perfect afternoon.

Right down the street from Lazy Latitudes about 5 miles you can hop right onto the Mobile Bay Ferry and take a 30 minute ride to Dauphin Island where you can explore their cuisine and beaches and of course, the estuary. Lots of bird watching and sea life here! Put your car, your dogs, and yourself right on the ferry boat!

The Flora-Bama bar and grill sits at the border of Florida and Alabama. They hosted the Mullet Toss this weekend with over 30,000 people over 3 days watching and participating. If you are wondering what a Mullet Toss is, it is a contest to see who can throw a dead fish (mullet) the farthest over the Florida/Alabama state line!
If you can’t find something interesting to do while visiting Gulf Shores, AL you just aren’t looking!!!!!

Right down the peninsula in Fort Morgan is the historic site of Fort Morgan itself. It also has beach access and dogs are allowed. The self guided tour is very informational and the tour will not break the bank. A nice stop before you jump on the ferry. Fort Morgan has something for everyone- but the beaches remain the favorite!!!

The area around Gulf Shores, AL has some pretty terrific and unique places to eat. The Yard has milkshakes and ice cream that are truly pieces of consumable art. The salted caramel turtle cheesecake milkshake had a piece of cheesecake AND a turtle on it! And the peppermint moose tracks milkshake was a delicious holiday treat with a chocolate covered marshmallow to top it off! These calories can only go away with long walks on the beach!

Some of our renters had such a great time they painted a lovely beach scene picture and left it as a gift for us. We are putting it on display right by the Memory Book for everyone staying there to see. Such a thoughtful contribution to our beach house. Thank you!
