UPDATED LIST of the restaurants DIRECTLY ON THE BEACH ..... so here are the restaurants directly on the beach with a direct view of the Gulf of Mexico from west to east...
1. Coast Restaurant & Sushi Bar at The Beach Club - Fort Morgan - SEE NOTE *
2. Sassy Bass Island Grill - Fort Morgan - SEE NOTE **
3. Bahama Bob's Beach Side Cafe - Gulf Shores
4. Pink Pony - Gulf Shores
5. Sea N Suds- Gulf Shores --- MY FAVORITE
6. Island Pancake House - Gulf Shores - SEE NOTE ***
7. ByWater Beachside at The State Park Pier
8. Voyagers at Perdido Beach Resort - SEE NOTE ****
9. The GULF - Orange Beach
10. THE Crab Trap... just across the line in FL
*Coast Restaurant & Sushi Bar at The Beach Club is open from 6PM-10PM
**Sassy Bass Island Grill... it is directly on the beach, but a few things to know... it is part of The Sassy Bass group of restaurants so make sure you are going to the right one at 375 Plantation Rd, Gulf Shores, AL 36542 .... NOT The Sassy Bass Amazing Grill ... the Amazing Grill is one of my favorites but it is NOT on the beach .... One other note is that the Island Grill is in the Gulf Plantation condominium complex and can be hard to find.
***Island Pancake House at Best Western on the Beach is open from 6AM to 2PM serving breakfast and lunch
****Voyagers at Perdido Beach Resort is open from 5PM-9PM
As far as I know these are the only ones directly on the beach with a view of the Gulf of Mexico... there are plenty of others that may see water in a lagoon or canal or waterway or Bayou...but they are not on the beach nor do they see the Gulf of Mexico..
As for the Hangout... it is a toss up as to whether it is technically beachside...really no way to see the beach or water while eating there but you can walk out and be on the beach in 30 seconds after crossing the road...so I left it out
As for Flora Bama...you can get stuff to eat there and it is on the beach but it is more known for drinks and music and not really family friendly at all times...so I left it out
