🛟 This first photo popped up in my personal memories on Facebook from a few years ago. So wild, how nature changes everything it might touch. The power of water and waves should never be under estimated. South Florida is watching this future storm Sara. We are extremely over hurricanes, and just hoping it sizzles out or goes elsewhere. Too early to tell. 🌊

These daughters spent some wonderful time with mom on a girls trip to the area 🏝️👯‍♀️ dolphins, lots of birds (eagles, ospreys, shorebirds) and a relaxing swim at the beach. 🐚🐬 we ended with a drop at for lunch - come on out the weathers been great!

These ladies had a blast shelling 🐚 found a bunch of sand dollars, as well as a big bag of trash we took off the beach 🏝️ the weather has been perfect! 🐬☀️

Here we go again. Putting the boat the same place it was for Ian. Stay safe everyone. Florida doesn’t like to shovel snow but shoveling sand and much is getting old too.

Hurricane Helene is gone (boat did good) and now it’s the cleanup on the island. Sand all over the place, so allow the trucks to clean everything up today, before you head down. They want to limit traffic today for obvious reasons. Peep the last two pics of a dumpster going down the road! Another reason so not drive in storm surges!

🌊🕸️ Spider webbing the boats at today. Our area is not in the cone, but the right side of hurricanes are known as the “dirty” or worse, side. The tails or bands like to whip up some wind and push the water in. Fort Myers Beach is expecting heavy bands of winds, possible tornados and a surge of 3-5 ft. Not our first rodeo so we’re all prepping for the worst and what if’s. Stay safe everyone! And panhandle area, we feel for you. Evacuate and stay safe! 🩵

Anyone know what species we found this weekend?

We found……an Arrow Crab! 🦀

🔟 These decapods live in the Atlantic from the Carolinas down to the Caribbean, and back around into the gulf waters. They CAN live up to about 5 years. This one appears to have lost a leg or two. It’s not something we usually see on our tours. Read below to understand why!

🍴 Diet: They are scavengers. Some of their diet includes: algae, marine worms, other invertebrates and dead organisms. Typically they will hunt for food at night, and rest during the day.

🗺️ Location: due to their diet, they are typically found in rocky areas, or around sponges and sea anemones, spiny urchins, or reefs. So very unusual to see one floating around the sandy sandbar!

🐠🐟 Predators: Grouper, Grunts and Triggerfish like to snack on these crabs. To try and be less visible, you’ll often see them “decorated” with algae and possible other organic fauna.

A sandbar Sunday stop at low tide is always fun to watch disappear, as the tide comes in 🏝️🐬 dolphins were making more dolphins and we ended the day at another private beach stop 🍻

How lucky are we to enjoy quiet beaches and the sight of a new (my guess is 1-2 month old, pic 12) baby dolphin! Hard to get a pic of! 🩵🐬 Thank you ladies! Safe travels home today!
