Same location, 4 years apart. This is the left side of the pier looking out to the water. Pierside Grill used to be on the left side of this sand path. I believe the Nov 2020 photo was taken when we were having a King Tide. Today (Nov 2024), the beach is getting renourished with sand harvested from about a mile offshore.

Last weekend, we drove up to Sarasota to see the beautiful street art produced at the Sarasota Chalk Festival. Of course, much of the artwork was produced in chalk, but some was created by using flowering plants and colored sand too.
Because of the wind, the floral art had to be sprayed with a diluted glue to keep all from dispersing.
We also walked down to the shoreline. The park was closed as they were repairing after Hurricane Milton last month. A huge sailboat was on the shoreline. It's going to take some major machinery to get the boat back into the water.

They are bringing lots of sand into the beach area around Times Square. I understand that the sand is supposed to go all the way out to where the little fishing store used to be on the pier. My picture doesn’t even include that point to give you an idea how much further they’re going out still.

We generally like to walk to Times Square area where there are plenty of choices for dining. Then when we're stuffed, we like to take the free Tram back to our Beach Delight! Ha! Ha! The free Tram starts running Thursday, November 21!

LeeTran’ s seasonal downtown trolley service is scheduled to resume on Thursday, Nov. 21, pending approval by the Board of County of Commissioners at the regularly scheduled Nov. 19 meeting.

Both the Blue and Gold Line trolleys provide free access to and from the historic downtown Fort Myers River District. LeeTran trolleys allow for a fun and convenient way to enjoy shopping, dining, and entertainment, without having to drive and park downtown.
The Blue Line runs through downtown Fort Myers. The route loops from the Oasis Condominiums to West First Street and McGregor Boulevard along First Street, then to Rosa Parks Transportation Center, Fowler Street and Second Street. The Gold Line connects North Fort Myers to downtown Fort Myers.

The free beach tram on Fort Myers Beach also will resume on Thursday, Nov. 21. The free tram will run about every 30 to 40 minutes, seven days a week, from Fort Myers Beach Public Library to Bowditch Point Park. Service begins at 8:20 a.m. daily at Fort Myers Beach Public Library and ends with the last tram leaving Bowditch Point Park at about 10:55 p.m.

In addition, Route 20 will experience modifications near the Hanson Street and Ortiz Avenue roundabout, which will cause slight changes to the schedule to improve route efficiency and connections.

Lovers Key is open again!

We are pleased to announce that Lovers Key State Park is now OPEN to the public. We appreciate your understanding and patience during our recovery efforts following storms Helene and Milton.

Please note that while the hiking trails remain closed, the beach, kayak launch, boat launch, Bayside and Welcome and Discovery Center are open for your enjoyment. The Welcome and Discovery Center is open Wed – Sat, 10 AM – 2 PM.

As you visit the beach, please be mindful of potential debris that may continue to wash up on the shore, we recommend wearing appropriate footwear for your safety.

While the park was closed Ranger Gibbons found this beautiful horse conch on the beach. It has been placed near the South beach tram bridge for a lucky visitor to find! 😁
