Hurricane Milton update: no damage was sustained to the house, boat or truck. Most of Fort Myers fared much better than we did through hurricane Ian.Tampa and Bradenton, unfortunately for them, took most of the hit. Most of us should be back to normal within a few days down here. I'm confident most of us captains and small businesses down here will be open and ready to serve our patrons by the end of the week. Chum Crazy Charters will be resuming normal operations starting Tomorrow.

Due to the lack of tourism we will have this season post Hurricane Ian, Chum Crazy Charters will be operating as a water taxi to get people over to Sanibel Island and Captiva Island, Florida while the bridges are down. With the waters cooled down, the Sheepshead are starting to move in. Live shrimp is the bait of choice for most anglers as they are readily available in most tackle shops. There have also been some small redfish being caught in the backbay areas of Estero Bay, Sanibel Island, and Matlacha.

Thursday October 25 - The bite was great! We ended up catching this beast of a snook and 4 others ranging from 28 to 34inches also a handful in the mid 20s. Along with a micro tarpon, 4 redfish and some nice mangrove snapper. All fish were released. Dont hesitate, book your charter today. Despite the red tide that we have had over the past few months, there are still some fish to be found. We have been running a little further than average to find fish but I am happy to report that we have been catching good numbers of fish in a red tide free area. No coughing or dead fish. A few other captains have also reported a good bite as well. There is no doubt that we need to take action to protect our waters, but don't hesitate to book a charter with a local captain as there is a good possibility of finding a red tide free area and having a great fishing trip.
