About Us

The Fort Myers Sailing Club (FMSC) was formed in the mid-1950's by a group of local downtown businessmen who founded the club with the idea of promoting youth sailing in the area as well as bringing people from all walks of life together to share in their common interest of sailing. Even some fifty years later, Fort Myers Sailing Club members are still devoted to the concept upon which the club's forefathers founded it, with the most important one being: keeping the sport of sailing alive in our community. Today, the Fort Myers Sailing Club membership roster is comprised of some of the most active and experienced sailors in Southwest Florida. The club's activities span the entire calendar year with a one-day-a-month racing program over the course of six to eight months, as well as several cruises taking the cruisers to destinations from the Florida Keys to Sarasota and beyond. The Sloop Scoop is the official newsletter of the FMSC. The newsletter is distributed to members and friends of FMSC via e-mail on a once per month basis, The Sloop Scoop provides members with news of the monthly meeting proceedings, upcoming race and cruise information, race results and articles on recent cruises and other information which might be of value to the members. Members are encouraged to submit articles and photos on anything related to the clubs activities or mission. Throughout the years, FMSC has brought together numerous people who share in the enjoyment of the sport of sailing. Through a variety of activities such as social events, racing regattas, and cruises, members and guests keep the club alive and active. Come join us and find out about all the fun you've been missing!
