Next Saturday!! Join the Fort Smith Museum of History on Saturday, July 27 at 1:00 pm as we welcome Lisa Bell-Wilson, the daughter of the late, legendary artist, John Bell, Jr. Mrs. Bell-Wilson's program will discuss her book “Can You See my Dust?: Tales of the Adventurous Life of John Bell, Jr.” Her book is a memoir of the life and times of the her father and artist, John Bell, Jr. Mr. Bell was afflicted with cerebral palsy but overcame his physical limitations to become a successful artist in a time before the accessibility laws of the Americans with Disabilities act.

Doors open at 12:30 pm, program begins at 1:00 pm.
Books will be available at the program. Cash and cards accepted.
Refreshments provided.
Regular admission fees apply; FSMH Members are FREE.

Eclipse Weekend is finally here! 🌙

We're only two days away from a truly phenomenal event. While Fort Smith NHS is just outside the path of totality, we're expecting to view a deep partial solar eclipse around 1:50 pm on Monday, April 8th.

If you're passing through Fort Smith on your way to the path of totality this weekend, stop by our visitor center at 301 Parker Ave in Fort Smith, AR to get travel information, become a Junior Ranger Eclipse Explorer, pick up a pair of free eclipse glasses, and say hello to your fellow eclipse enthusiasts in green and gray.

This hands-on activity is the construction of an extended coverage area of eclipse glasses to provide extra protection for safely viewing a solar eclipse. This makes it harder to look outside the lenses on the eclipse glasses.
