David brought the family in for a half-day catfish trip, it was day 4 of no wind which left the fish still somewhat scattered and biting super light. I had to do some hustling and moving a lot to find fish that would eat and stay in them and we had to w**d through a bunch of short fish. A typical Saturday with LOTS of boat traffic and POTLICKERS doesn't help matters either. We still managed a really nice box of fish, I think the final count was 48.

The south wind is coming back this week and they should stop the water release soon so I expect the bite to get back like it should be.

I still have a few July dates open and a BUNCH of August dates, catfish or white bass. Fishing will continue to be excellent through the summer! Get booked while you can!

Alex brought the family in from Midland for some catfish action yesterday. The lake was slick as glass again and the fish were a little scattered and biting super light. We didn't have much experience so it took some time to get them up to speed and setting the hooks but then they were slinging fish in the boat left and right. The bite was so light we had a bunch of fish coming off on the way into the boat. We also had to do some dodging to stay away from POTLICKERS but we managed a nice mess of blues and channels (I think the final count was 47) and they said it was by far the best fishing action they had ever experienced.

I still have a few July dates open and a BUNCH of August dates, catfish or white bass. Fishing will continue to be excellent through the summer! Get booked while you can!

The Thompsons joined me yesterday morning for a half-day catfish trip. It was day two with no wind, just like the previous day we found lots of fish but we really had to work to make them eat. As soon as the south wind blows again they'll get HANGRY. We came in with 37 nice blues and channels but had to work my tail off to catch them!

Karl and Ted came back for some catfish action, we had NO WIND so not only was it 4,000 degrees but the bite was super light and the fish were scattered. We managed a box of 65 fish and released a few overs, a bunch of short fish, and a couple of monster buffalo. The bite was super light and made it tough for them to feel fish.

Chef Jon Bonnell brought a crew out yesterday for what turned out to be a WHACK EM AND STACK EM® SMOKEDOWN SMACKDOWN SHOWDOWN. I'd been fighting with lots of little fish the previous couple of days so I completely changed things up starting out and about 10 minutes and about 12 little fish in we pulled up and went on the hunt, did some moving and grooving and catching fish but still w**ding through the little ones so we went back on the hunt, did some scanning and I finally spotted the signs I was looking for on my graph. Lines in the water and BOOM, we had a quadruple on with all GOOD blue catfish and chaos ensued. We hit the dock with 95 catfish and released a ton of fish in the process, some overs, some smalls, and some buffalo.

They've dialed the water releases back again but still letting water out. Fish are scattered and moving a lot but we've had no problems catching a BIG MESS of fish as long as you do your part (and some wind helps also).

The Cassity's joined me for a half day yesterday. We caught fish from start to finish but we had to w**d through small fish ton get to the keepers. It's been a theme the past few days. They dialed the water release back again. There's still water going out but it's much less than the past week. The fish were starting to stack back up again. Having less boat traffic (versus a weekend) makes a big difference as well. We caught a nice mess of fish and released some overs as well.

The Lawrence family joined me for a half-day catfish trip. We caught a ton of fish, easily caught over 150 fish but the tiny fiddlers ate us alive and we couldn't seem to escape them. We came in with 64 fish and it was the most fish they'd ever caught, released at least 100 more small fish. Another WHACK EM AND STACK EM® day.

They're still releasing a LOT of water which usually makes the bite a little tougher but we're still managing good catches. I expect they'll shut the water release off in the next few days and fishing should be exceptional.

Charlie came back again today with a friend and his daughter Kennedy. It was SUPER WINDY and the wind had us locked down so I couldn't fish where and how I wanted but we tucked away from the wind and made it work. The boat traffic was INSANE also but we made it work and came in with 49 fish and released a few overs.

Kennedy's sister, Kadence, fished with me in March. Kadence was quite proud of the fact that she caught 23 fish all on her own. Kennedy mentioned it this morning and her goal was to catch 24 fish on her own. She was quite proud that she caught 37 fish on her own today and I'm sure had NO plans of letting her little sister know she had beat her.

LIMIITED OUT - 3 HOURS .. The Jackson's joined me this morning for a half-day WHACK EM AND STACK EM® slugfest. We limited out in three hours this morning and the only reason it took that long is it took me about 40 minutes to get on the last three fish. Once we had 50 fish in the box we changed tactics and went and did some more catch-and-release fishing. In total we probably caught 125 fish (had to w**d through some small fish). They're letting water out so the fish are moving a lot but they're there for the catching if you hustle and use your electronics.

I've said many times that when my attitude isn't right god puts people in my life that straighten that out for me quickly.

I had the incredible honor of helping the CAST for Kids Foundation again this morning taking kids fishing in coordination with Cook Children's Medical Center. We took all the seats out of the SeaArk Pro Guide and made lots of room for this young man to move around in his chair. He said he caught 12 fish last year and it was the best fishing ever but an hour in today he had 23 fish in the boat including one about 8 pounds. We took the rest of the time cruising the lake to keep him cool, he fell asleep and mom got a short break to put her feet up and relax for a minute.

I can't say enough about the hard work, effort, and coordination Troy Moncrief puts into this event and the annual CAST fundraiser. Also West Bay Marina & RV Park at Eagle Mountain Lake and Lakeview Marina Eagle Mountain Lake owners and staff put into a ton of work, effort and money into this event from facilities to meals, snacks, and drinks.

Every family member, child and angler is fed breakfast and lunch, all the kids get rod and reels, snow cones, face painting, t-shirts other goodies. The Sportsmen's Club of Fort Worth plays a HUGE part in funding this event as well.

CAST is an incredible organization, with events all over the country. If you've never helped with one of their events, look them up and get involved!

The Towles brothers joined me for a half day catch and release trip today. The fish were hangry and they caught a ton of fish and kept me hopping. Easily caught and released 125+ fish in less than 4 hours and managed to avoid the rain for the most part but we did have to tuck into a dock for about 15 minutes. There was more smack talk and tall tales than I've heard in a very long time.

Charlie brought another group back for some WHACK EM AND STACK EM® catfish action, we didn't have any wind for a good portion of the trip but it didn't matter because the boys were slinging fish in the boat left and right, once the wind blew the fish got aggressive and the size of the fish REALLY improved.

The Whitfield Crew joined me Saturday for some WHACK EM AND STACK EM® catfish action celebrating one of the boy's birthdays. They had me hopping, my flops were smoking and there was some serious fish slinging going on. I had a blast fishing with this family and we wore the boys (and the guide) completely out!

Daren and his son joined me for a half-day catfish trip last week for a partial catch-and-release trip. We kept 30 and then threw everything else back releasing the bigger fish and the small fish, we caught fish from beginning to end.
