Our puppy was the true definition of perserverance.
During the rolling blackouts in 2014, Bev and Monty decided it was to cold in the house for this puppy, so they sent him to a friend's house until power was restored. Later that evening, a fire broke out in their home and took the lives of Corey's parents.
Jake came to us. A dog with a cracked rib which never healed, a collapsed trachea, a heart murmur, and a new life without the two people who loved him more than anything.
Jake found it difficult to get the attention he deserved in his new found family that included his 2 cousin fur babies. But nobody could resist Jake's charm, not even Zoey and Abby.
Struggling literally every day for breath, he was the epitome of a fighter. He was loyal, he was kind, he was sweet, he was gentle...he was perfect. Wouldn't have won Dog Jeopardy by any means, but he was the best dog anyone could have wished for.
His brown eyes would melt granite, he was strikingly the most beautiful dog I have ever laid eyes on.
Breathe free my little angel, and I hope you're back in the arms of your loving real Mom and Dad. We were certainly blessed to have you with us for 10 great years. You deserve a new chapter free of pain and discomfort.
Although you struggled with breathing and health throughout your 12 years, it was you who took my breath away.

What started as a simple idea to put up one of our homes up for a week stay in a raffle, turned in to an amazing experience of love and support for this family from all walks of life - and from many places all over this great province, and even as far as Ohio.
We originally thought if we could raise a few thousand dollars that would be amazing - but the outpouring of kindness blew us away. We appreciate the kind words that people inboxed saying what an great thing we were doing, but the truth is we only provided an empty home - it was everyone like you who stepped up and did this amazing thing.
