Did you know that Disney World has 23 themed hotels on property? They are broken up into 3 different categories: Value, Moderate, and Deluxe.

Today I am going to share some insights about the value resorts. Starting with reasons to stay at the value resorts (admittedly—mostly money and fun). They are all themed very differenly, and to some may seem over the top, but they do that for the kids! All the value resorts are more family oriented than others. The value resorts are Disney’s lowest-priced resorts. There are five value resorts at Walt Disney—Pop Century, Art of Animation, All-Star Movies, All-Star Sports, and All-Star Music

Let’s start with the All Star Resorts, the All-Stars are sometimes referred to singularly as “All-Star Resort” because they are all a part of one giant physical campus. The only amenity they share, though, is a single bus route.

*All-Star Movies resort is themed to different Disney movies. The themes are Toy Story, Fantasia, 101-Dalmatians, Mighty Ducks, and The Love Bug. Movies has a choice between two different rooms, standard and preferred. Preferred rooms are a little more expensive per night, but you will be closer to the main pool, busses, and food court. Each room either has 2 queens or 1 king and sleeps up to 4.

Dining:
-World Premiere Food Court, food court
-Silver Screen Spirits Pool Bar, pool bar

Recreation:
-2 Outdoor pools, Fantasia Pool & Duck Pond Pool
-Feature Pool has a Fantasia theme
-Children's water play area
-Arcade
-Children's playground
-Movies Under the Stars
-Jogging trail

*All-Star Music resort pays homage to some of the world’s most popular music genres, including country, jazz, rock ‘n’ roll, calypso, and Broadway style show tunes. There are 3 different type of rooms in this resort, like Movies, there are standard, preferred, and also family suites. Family suites can sleep up to 6, unlike the standard and preferred that sleeps up to 4.

Dining:
-Intermission Food Court, food court
-Singing Spirits Pool Bar, pool bar

Recreation:
-2 Outdoor pools, Calypso Pool & Piano Pool
-Feature Pool, Calypso theme
-Children's water play area
-Arcade
-Children's playground
-Movies Under the Stars
-Jogging trail

*All-Star Sports features different sections celebrating a variety of sports including football, baseball, and basketball. The decor features larger-than-life sports gear and a fun theme with some familiar Disney friends. Sports offers standard and preferred rooms, just like Movies, with 2 queens or 1 king and sleeps up to 4.

Dining:
-End Zone Food Court, food court
-Grandstand Spirits Pool Bar, pool bar

Recreation:
-2 Outdoor pools - Surfboard Bay Pool & Grand Slam Pool
-Feature Pool - Surfing theme
-Children's water play area
-Arcade
-Children's playground
-Movies Under the Stars
-Jogging trail

*Art of Animation The theming here is all about animation, so you can find some of your favorite Disney characters hanging around, as well as some artsy decor inside. The resort features 1,120 family suites themed around such Disney animated classics as Finding Nemo, Cars and The Lion King. The Little Mermaid building houses an additional 864 standard guest rooms. Art of Animation offers two methods of transportation, Disney Busses and the Skyliner. The Skyliner is a ride in itself and can get you to Epcot and Hollywood Studios.

Dining:
-Landscape of Flavors, food court
-The Drop Off Pool Bar, poolside bar

Recreation:
-3 Pools - The Big Blue Pool, Cozy Cone Pool, and Flippin' Fins Pool
-Children's water play area
-Arcade
-Children's playground
-Movies Under the Stars
-Jogging trail
-Arcade
-Fishing (available at the nearby marina)

*Pop Century resort is themed to different decades from the 1950s through the 1990s. There are giant Rubik’s Cubes and rollerblades, with tribute to the design and fashion of the times. As for the rooms, Pop Century has standard hotel rooms that come with either 1 king bed or 1 queen bed and 1 table/pull down queen bed. They also have these rooms with pool views. As far as transportation you are able to get on Disney Busses or ride the Skyliner! The Skyliner is a new addition of transportation and will get you to either Epcot or Hollywood Studios!

Dining:
Everything Pop Food Court, food court
Petals Pool Bar, pool bar

Recreation:
-3 Pools
-Feature pool has 1970's theme
-Children's pool
-Pop jet water fountain play area
-Movies Under the Stars
-Arcade
-Children's playground
-Jogging trail
-Fishing (at a nearby marina)

All rooms at the resorts will have a coffee pot, beverage cooler, hair dryer, ironing board, safe, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion. When visiting make sure to explore your resort, a great opportunity for a photo-op!

Today we say goodbye to one of Magic Kingdoms staple rides, Splash Mountain.

Splash Mountain had an opening date on October 2, 1992.

Splash Mountain is a log flume at Disneyland, Tokyo Disneyland, and Magic Kingdom (WDW), based on the animated sequences of the 1946 Disney film Song of the South. Although there are variations in the story and features between the three locations, each installation begins with a peaceful outdoor float-through that leads to indoor dark ride segments, with a climactic steep drop into a "briar patch" followed by an indoor finale.

In June of 2020 it was announced that the US versions of the ride would be receiving a new theme based on Disney’s princess and the frog. The new ride will be titled Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, and it is scheduled to open in late 2024.

This ride is not a goodbye, but see you later with a new theme.

I am grateful for all the opportunities I’ve had to ride and am excited for it to reopen!

What is Disney Springs?

Disney Springs is Walt Disney World’s shopping, dining, and entertainment district, and no trip to the Orlando area is complete without visiting. While many guests do tons of research about the four main Disney theme parks–Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom–they spend less time preparing for their time in Disney Springs. It has over 100 stores, more than 50 places to grab a bite or a beverage, live entertainment, and more Disney magic. A plus is that it is free to get into Disney Springs!

Like so much on Disney World’s property, Disney Springs has a distinct theme, though it is subtler than the parks and some of the resorts. Disney Imagineers designed it to resemble old oceanside towns and cities in the Sunshine State, such as St. Augustine and Tampa.

You are able to get to Disney Springs by driving and parking in one of the two garages or taking Disney Transportation, bus or boat.

There are so many unique stores in Disney Springs, that you’re sure to find something you love. Some people can’t get enough of the holiday season. If that’s you, visit Disney’s Days of Christmas in the Marketplace. You can find decorations, ornaments, and everything Christmas, Hanukkah, New Year’s, and more.

Another family favorite is Basin, where you can mix and make your own bath bombs. Your kids might be a little reluctant, but they’ll quickly be pulled into the personalized fun.

Disney is wonderful about ensuring that all their guests can have a great time regardless of their preferences. This is true even at Disney Springs, where they’ve taken care of those of us who don’t particularly enjoy shopping.

There’s so much for families to do at Disney Springs. Some classic activities, such as Splitsville Luxury Lanes, are for bowling, games, and food. There’s also a movie theater with more than 20 screens to catch the latest flick.

If you want to do something different, take your family up in the hot air balloon, AeroPhile. You can get a spectacular view of the entire property and all of central Florida, and it’s enclosed and entirely safe for kids. You can also snag tickets for the new Cirque du Soleil show, “Drawn to Life,” which brings to life the art of Disney animation in a way you’ve never experienced before.

Dining at Disney Springs is much like dining in the parks, most sit down restaurants need a reservation. My suggestion would be to explore your options before your trip, narrow it down to a few places you would like to go eat, and see what reservations are available.

Disney Springs is a must do when visiting Walt Disney World. Most people spend their off-days there since you can come and go as you please. There are many unique shops where you can get your Disney merchandise that you won't find in the parks! A great perk is you are able to send what you buy to your resort so you don't have to haul all of your bags around.

Day 4 of 4 Parks

Day 4: Animal Kingdom

The pictures attached are The Tree of life, see how many animals you can find!
Pandora
Everest

Animal Kingdom is the newest addition to the Walt Disney World theme parks with the opening date April 22, 1998. Animal Kingdom is a park dedicated to the natural wonder and exotic wildlife of the earth. It’s one of the most immersive parks, with breathtaking landscaping and elaborate details. Animal Kingdom’s themes are wildlife and conservation, and its icon is The Tree of Life.

Animal Kingdom is divided into 6 individually themed lands, The Oasis, Discovery Island, Africa, Asia, Dinoland U.S.A, and Pandora - The World of Avatar. Within the 6 themed lands there are 15 rides and live shows.

1. The Oasis
-This will be once you enter the front of the park and it features winding paths with lush vegetation and animal habitats that guests can explore. Many people beeline through The Oasis, but there is much beauty to be enjoyed by those who take their time and enjoy the details. If you take a second and take in the scenery the chances of spotting an animal are greatly increased!

2. Discovery Island
-This is the main hub to which all other areas of the park connect. It also houses the park icon, The Tree of Life.

-The Tree of Life contains over 300 carvings of animals.

3. Africa
- This area is themed, appropriately enough, as an African viallge named Harambe. The detailed city street ends at the entrance of Kilimanjaro Safaris, which is the signature attraction of the park
- Kilimanjaro Safars is a true life safari with real animals from African including, giraffes, zebras, lions, elephants, and many more!
-A little tip to riding would be early in the morning or late in the evening because the animals are more active around that time.

4. Asia
-Themed as the mystical Kingdom of Anandapur (which means delight,) this Asian village is highly detailed and quite beautiful.
- Immerse yourself in Asian culture with Quick Service and Table Service Restaurant, like the famous Yak & Yeti Restaurant.

5. Dinoland U.S.A
-The story goes that a paleontologist found a dinosaur bone in the middle of a Florida swamp near a small gas station. Quickly the land was brought up and became the Dino Institute. Excited by all the new tourist traffic in the area the owners of the gas station, Chester and Hester, decided to build a small amusement park to compete with the high tech muse up next door. In Dinoland USA guests can explore both the Dino Institute and Chester and Hester’s Dino-Rama.
-Unfortunately, Dinoland has been going though some renovations and we can only hope they are going to add new and exciting attractions or shows!
-The main attraction located there is Dinosaur, a track ride with a full motion simulator in a high speed race to space a dinosaur and get out before the asteroid impact.

6. Pandora- The World of Avatar
-The newest area of Disney’s Animal Kingdom which transportds guests to the home of Na’vi. The mythical land is home to otherworldly plant life and mahescti floating mountains, all of which come alive at night with bioluminescent lighting.

Animal Kingdom is definitely the most overlooked park, but it has so much to offer! You could easily spend your whole day there and not be able to get through everything in the park, like people seem to think.

Day 3 of the 4 parks

Day 3: Hollywood Studios

Hollywood Studios was the 3rd park to open with the opening date of May 1st, 1989. The park was originally known as MGM Studios and was first developed as both a working production studio and a show-business-inspired theme park. Disney and MGM film studios worked out a deal in 1985, which allowed Disney the right to use the MGM name and logo for a studio-themed park.

You may remember some of the famous landmarks at MGM, like the Chinese Theatre that housed "The Great Movie Ride," which officially closed its doors in 2017. Or the Mickey's sorcerer's hat, which got taken down in 2014

Once the park was renamed to Hollywood Studios in 2008, the park focused its attractions and theme around the imagined worlds of theater, music, television, and film. With the renaming Disney thought it would be a good idea to get rid of the "old and outdated" aspects of MGM Studios.

Hollywood Studios’ layout is broken up into eight different sections: Hollywood Boulevard, Sunset Boulevard, Echo Lake, Animation Courtyard, Commissary Lane, Pixar Place, Toy Story Land and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

Each one of these sections serves a different purpose inside Hollywood Studios, and no matter how small a section is, there’s something that adults and children will enjoy within each one.

Hollywood Boulevard is your entrance to the park and houses only one attraction which is Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway. This ride used to be where "The Great Movie Ride" was in the Chinese Theatre. There are a few dining spots walking down the boulevard and of course shops!

Sunset Boulevard is right off of Hollywood and has much more attractions and shows. My favorite attractions would be Rock n' Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror. Some of the shows are Beauty and the Beast live and Fantasmic!. Fantasmic! is a long-running nighttime show that is about the power of the imagination, showcased by Mickey experiencing a dream during a night in which he is sleeping. This nighttime show is definitely a MUST when visiting Hollywood Studios. Of course there is dining and shops available down the boulevard as well.

Echo Lake has a lot to offer dining, attraction, and entertainment-wise. From a sing-along featuring 2 of Arendelle’s most beloved sisters, to an action-packed show starring Indiana Jones, to the only character dining spot in the entire park, Echo Lake is a worthwhile land.

Animation Courtyard- This section of the park originally was the starting point for the tours of the park's active production studios. The entrance is marked with a squared "studio arch", much like a real Hollywood studio lot entrance marked. The Animation Courtyard is a home to a number of attractions based on Disney characters of yesterday, today, and tomorrow. The Magic of Disney Animation is an attraction that examines the development process of an animated character. It also includes interactive games and exhibits, along with meet-and-greet areas for Disney and Pixar characters.

Commissary Lane is possibly classed as the smallest land, simply because it’s a very small street area with no attractions and only two restaurants. It passes behind The American Idol Experience and through to the Streets of America and is mainly used as a cut through from Sunset Boulevard to Star Tours.

Pixar Place is a themed land at Disney's Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Located along a corridor once labeled Mickey Avenue, it contains the original soundstages used when the park hosted actual production facilities. Though the land was functionally retired after the opening of Toy Story Land, the brickwork facades were retained as a flexible character greeting space and is currently host to the Incredible Celebration event with a loose Municiberg theme.

Toy Story Land has the premise of walking into the land, human visitors are transformed into honorary toys and are invited to play with Andy’s toys. The Toy Story Land setting is Andy’s backyard, where everything is oversized. Upon entering, guests are essentially shrunk to the size of a toy. Walking through the land, visitors encounter enormous sneaker prints left in the dirt by Andy, huge blades of grass, and immense toys such as large wooden blocks, a massive Jenga tower, and Tinkertoy assemblies serving as support structures. This land hosts some of the favorite attractions in the park, Slinky Dog Dash and Toy Story Mania.

Last, but certainly not least, Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is a full land themed after the ever-popular Star Wars franchise. The area, which officially opened on August 29, 2019, includes two rides: Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. Galaxy's Edge is also known as the Black Spire Outpost, a crossroads on the far-flung planet of Batuu. Not long ago, the First Order showed up searching for something, although what that something is remains unknown. Even more recently, the Resistance set up camp in the wooded area of the Outpost and began, well... resisting. When you are in Galaxy's Edge you are not on Earth, but on the planet of Batuu and in the middle of the Star Wars movies. Do not expect the inhabitants to discuss Terran problems, but do expect them to talk at length about the goings on of the Black Spire Outpost. In the Star Wars timeline, you are in between the events of Episode VIII: The Last Jedi and Episode IX: Rise of Skywalker.

Hollywood Studios might be the complex's best and most overlooked park. Its smaller size makes it easy to do in one day without experiencing some serious exhaustion, and yet, it's packed with classic dark rides and modern thrill rides.

Day 2 of the 4 parks

Day 2: Epcot

Epcot was the second park to open at Walt Disney World, opening up 11 years after Magic Kingdom. The date was October 1st, 1982 and it represents the culmination of Walt Disney's greatest dream.

Epcot stands for “Experimental Prototype Community Of Tomorrow.” Epcot was not supposed to become an amusement park, Walt Disney had wanted to create an urban utopia in his vision. Walt had a specific vision for the future and to that end he planned for the construction of a place that would showcase those futuristic predictions and hopes. Unfortunately, Disney’s death had impacted the “city” that he wanted to create. The company decided they were not able to complete Epcot the way Disney had imagined it, but they did what they could without his guidance.

Epcot is divided into four main themed areas:

1. World Celebration
- World Celebration serves as the park’s main entrance and as the home of “new experiences that connect us to one another and the world around us.”

2. World Discovery
- World Discovery centers on “stories about space, science, technology, and intergalactic adventure comes to life.”

3. World Nature
-World Nature focuses on “understanding and preserving the beauty, awe, and balance of the natural world.”

4. World Showcase
-World Showcase is the park’s largest neighborhood, reminiscent of a permanent world’s fair dedicated to represent the culture, cuisine, architecture, and traditions of 11 nations.
-The 11 nations are Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, United States, Japan, Morocco, France, United Kingdom, and Canada.
-ALWAYS start in Mexico, If you know you know!

World showcase is the most popular because you can “travel around the world.” Every country has either restaurants or quick service serving culture from all around the world. The food at World Showcase will rotate depending on which festival is happening during your visit.
For everyone 21 and up, you are able to “drink around the world,” every restaurant or quick service offers some of the most unique cocktails, beer, and wine!

Speaking of the festivals, Epcot hosts 4 festivals each year. Each one features unique experiences you wont find at other times. There are only a few weeks of the year where a festival is not going on. All of these experiences are INCLUDED in the price of park admission!

Festival of the Arts
-It is a celebration of visual, performing and culinary arts. Guest are able to embrace the magic by taking drawing lessons from Disney artists and see Broadway stars live.

Flower and Garden Festival
- Filled with Disney topiaries, colorful array of flowers, gardens, live music, special presentations, and garden marketplaces.

Epcot International Food and Wine Festival
- This is the longest of the four festivals and has so much to offer! Special kiosks are set up around the World Showcase with food and drinks that reflect various countries. Although all the festivals offer special food and drinks, Food and Wine is the most popular and has the most food booths.

Epcot Festival of the Holidays
- This festival allows guests to experience holiday traditions from various cultures as expressed through decorations, stories, music, cuisines, and additional special events!

Now getting to the attractions and shows of the park. The theme park has a total of 19 rides and shows. They are located all throughout the park and some are even in World Showcase with their appropriate country!

A few of my favorites are
-Living with the Land
-Spaceship Earth
-Test Track
-Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure

At the end of each night, just like Magic Kingdom, Epcot offers a fireworks show. The show running right now is called Harmonious, it is a 50th celebration night time spectacular. Once the 50th celebration ends, April 2023, Epcot already has plans to have a new nighttime spectacular!

This park has a lot to unpack and so much to offer! As a TA I am certain I can provide you with the most up to date information and a great itinerary for your visit.

Day 1 of the 4 parks 🙂

Day 1: Magic Kingdom

Cinderella’s castle is the icon at WDW, did you know it is one of the most photographed locations in the world? “The Hub” as people call it, is the center circle of the park.

This theme park has 6 different lands that you’re able to visit.
•Fantasyland
•Frontierland
•Tomorrowland
•Adventureland
•Liberty Square
•Main Street USA

There is a total of 42 rides at the Magic Kingdom.
Here are some of my favorites:
•Splash Mountain (unfortunately will start it’s retheming at the end of the month)
•Space Mountain
•Jungle Cruise
•The People Mover

Between table service restaurants, counter service, and snacks, there are over 30 places to eat at the Magic Kingdom. Not to mention a few of the table service restaurants have character dining. Below I will put some of my favorite of each..

Sit down:
•Tony’s Town square
•Be our Guest
•Cinderella’s Royal Table

Counter:
•Casey’s ( A MUST!)
•Pinocchio’s Village
•Cosmic Ray

Snacks:
•Mickey pretzel
•Popcorn
•Turkey Leg
•Mickey’s Ice Cream Bar

Magic Kingdom offers meet and greets with characters, shows indoor and out, cavalcade (parade), and THE BEST fireworks show (end of each night if weather permits).

The park has a lot to offer for everyone!
