Spent this past weekend in Atlanta talking with potential visitors at the Atlanta Travel and Adventure Show about Franklin & Nantahala. Even got to have conversations with a number of folks who know a lot about our area. Also had a shout out to Lazy Hiker Brewing Co. from one person who stopped to talk.

I also got to speak with a number of people who asked about the affects from Helene and expressed the importance of tourism to western North Carolina’s recovery.

⚠️ STAY HOME ⚠️

Roadways will be very slick and iced over in the morning. Please stay home unless it is necessary to leave. You put yourself, others, and first responders at risk when on the icy roads.

Franklin Police Department Officers will use discretion when to respond to non-emergency calls while the roadways are hazardous. If the call can wait or be dealt with over the phone then that will be the appropriate response. Emergency/urgent calls will continue to be responded to accordingly.

It is not worth high insurance deductibles, thousands of dollars in vehicle damage, or injury if you don’t have to be on the roadways.

Be careful.

The Franklin Chamber of Commerce welcomes Echoes of the Past Historic Ghost Tours to the Franklin business community with a recent ribbon cutting celebration. Listen for "Echoes of the Past" and learn about the local legends of downtown Franklin, North Carolina. Experience our histories and mysteries on an immersive walking tour through one of the most historically diverse and haunted places in America. From stories of pre-Columbian explorers to the Civil War to modern day, each one-hour ghost tour is appropriate for all ages. Tours will travel down Main Street from Ruby City Gems to First Citizens Bank, and back from Rankin Square to Rathskeller Coffee Haus and Pub (about 1/3 mile total). Tours meet at Franklin's Town Hall. Parking is available at Town Hall and along Main Street. Echoes of the Past - Historic Ghost Tours is owned and operated by Franklin native Morgyn Brannon. Morgyn is a sophomore at Western Carolina University and studies History and Philosophy. With a strong passion for storytelling and education, Morgyn has experience working with all ages.
