Shadow of the Bear

At certain times of the year in North Carolina, the shadow of Whiteside Mountain creates an incredible phenomenon as it creeps across the valley below. For just a few brief minutes, the shadow takes the form of a bear! It becomes quite a tourist attraction just before sunset during the fall, but on certain nights when the moon is right, the shadow appears under the stars, as well.
