Lake Palestine Spillway 6/6/24
The lake is releasing water as fast as it can. The Neches River south of the damn is raging full speed ahead. It will still take awhile to lower the lake because the Neches River is raging water into the lake on the north end, along with every other creek in the area. If no more rain falls, I’m guessing a couple weeks before the lake returns to full pool.
When the lake is overflowing but I still have to clean 50 fish. Business as usual, just busted out the flippy floppies.

Fish #1 was in the way and I had to catch it to get to #2 the target fish. Moving a fish without all the others seeing is key here. Notice how predatory these crappie act! Went 3 for 3 on this tree.

This year I’m going to offer a few trophy trips for MEGA sized crappie. These trips will take place now through Feb 7th. We will target crappie in the 2.5-3+lb range and those fish will be released to swim another day. We will get pictures/video measurements and weight in case the angler wants to have a replica of their trophy to hang on the wall. I have 4 of these trips available so it will be 1st come 1st served. Stranded boater ⚠️
Sometimes people need help and you can be the one to save the day….and you should! This topic is just to raise awareness, not to showboat. I help stranded boaters frequently and never post it because I don’t want to be the “hey look at me guy”. Today I’m bringing it to attention just to say what should be common courtesy for all boaters.

I’m going to try to keep my rates the same even with rising gas prices. I pride my guide service as an affordable service. Even guaranteeing successful trips or I don’t charge.
Im tied as the cheapest guide on the lake from what I understand. I definitely don’t try to get rich as a fishing guide but I’d like to make a comfortable living. Im able to save during busy months so that I can live frugally during the tough months. With that said, if fuel prices continue to rise I will be forced to go up on my rates. I don’t want to but it may come a time.
