FORECAST UPDATE!!
It was a pleasant surprise overnight in the Northern and Central Mountains as more snow fell than forecast. Areas surrounding Berthoud Pass picked up the most snow, with around 18 inches in the past two days, accompanied by strong westerly wind. On Sunday morning, Avalanche danger increased to CONSIDERABLE (Level 3of5). The Aspen area and other parts of the Northern Mountains also did well in snowfall, with two-day totals pushing 10 inches.
Trigging Wind Slab avalanches are the primary concern. The best way to have an avalanche-free day is to avoid steep slopes where you observe more than 8 inches of new or drifted snow. Find safer riding on protected low-angle slopes.
