On November 19th, 1863, Tobias Newcomer, age 17, walked from his family's farm two miles south of Taneytown, Maryland, all the way to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, 22 miles away, to see and hear, Abraham Lincoln's famous "Gettysburg Address."

His father had purchased a new pair of boots for him the day before, which he used to hike to the Gettysburg Battlefield. When he returned home, both feet were too sore to stand upon. Today, he rests, in his new home, historic Mount Olivet Cemetery.

"Wreaths Across America" last Saturday at historic Mount Olivet Cemetery. Recipients of wreaths included 4,935 veterans from all American wars. Included were: Joseph Staley, youngest Union Soldier in Mount Olivet, casualty of the Battle of Gettysburg; Hypolite Owen Fontenot, Confederate casualty of the Battle of Monocacy; and Lester Cook, casualty of WWI. All included in our "Cemetery History and Mystery Tour."
