There are many varieties of birds around the guest house. Saw this Caracara during a morning walk. The close-up photo is courtesy of Wikipedia. An interesting fact: Caracaras would rather walk than fly. (Guess the one I saw doesn’t read Wikipedia!).

If you’re trying to get in the Christmas spirit this year, be sure to check out downtown Fredericksburg starting at 6pm on Tuesday, 11/21:

Locals and visitors can experience the mix of German Christmas traditions and Texan hospitality this Weihnachtszeit, or Christmas season, at Marktplatz. In partnership with the City of Fredericksburg, the Fredericksburg Convention and Visitor Bureau will host its nightly lighting of the Community Christmas Tree and German Christmas Pyramid during Fredericksburg’s Christmas Nights of Lights. Beginning on Tuesday, Nov. 21, all are invited to experience a 10-minute audio presentation, featuring the story of the town’s German heritage, holiday carols and concluding with a countdown to the lighting of Marktplatz. Fredericksburg’s Christmas Nights of Lights runs through Sunday, Jan. 7.
