Deception Pass State Park is one of the most popular Washington state parks and it is easy to see why. There are beautiful beaches, mature woodlands, great views, lakes, and a beautifully built bridge high on rocks above two narrow waterways. This nice trail will take you through all of this.

We are pleased to share that after a significant redesign, our North San Juan Channel hydrophone is back online! A big thank you to all involved including our partners at Orcasound - Listen for Whales for helping to make this happen.

We received a webform about a humpback in Admiralty Inlet!

Time: 9:00 AM
Species seen: Humpback
Number of animals seen: 1
Where seen: Between Foulweather Bluff and Double Bluff
Direction of travel : Unknown [reported as north]
Behaviors observed: Surfaced a few times then fluked
If orcas, any males?:
Any unusual markings?:
Is there anything else you'd like to share about your encounter?: Relaying a report from my dad who’s on the Victoria Clipper heading to BC. He said they slowed briefly after they saw a humpback surface then picked up speed and continued on after it fluked. He couldn’t tell what direction it was headed. He said it was north of Hood Canal but based on the Clipper’s track, I think they were still slightly north of Hansville.
