Breathtaking views surround and outdoor adventures abound! Bring friends and family and Experience Warren County!

Shenandoah National Park and Shenandoah River State Park have trails just waiting for you to hike. Wanting to explore the Shenandoah River? Downriver Canoe Company and Front Royal Outdoors can set you up to do just that.

Warren County is home to many wonderful golf courses that you don't want to miss (Blue Ridge Shadows Golf Club, Front Royal Golf Club, Shenandoah Valley Golf Club, and Sly Fox Golf Club).

Visit Skyline Caverns and learn about the history and see the beautiful natural wonders the cavern holds.

History enthusiasts should make a plan to visit the Warren Heritage Society, Inc. to learn about the beginnings of Warren County followed by a tour of the Balthis House and Belle Boyd Cottage, once home of the famous Confederate spy.

We have fun for all with playgrounds throughout Warren County, a skatepark at Skyline Soccerplex and pools at Warren County Parks and Recreation's Claude A Stokes pool and the NOVA 4-H pool all set within magnificent views.

For a fantastic meal set in a warm family atmosphere, be sure to visit The Apple House (don't forget those scrumptious apple butter donuts)!

There are fabulous places to stay in Warren County all within easy reach of these incredible activities and experiences.

Come follow a Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park Ranger to see an 1800's farm through the eyes of its inhabitants for a program called Farm, Family and Freedom. See the Valley from its early settlements through the eyes of the families who lived there. Hear the newly rediscovered story of James Foster, an enslaved man, and his free wife, Mary Petty. The tour includes a short walk around the Bowman-Hite Farm buildings located in Warren County.

This program will take place Thursdays, July 4th and July 18th at 2pm. Meet at the Cedar Creek Battlefield Foundation Museum and Visitor Center on US Route 11. The tour will caravan to the Bowman-Hite Farm.

Gaze at the heavens with the National Park Service (NPS) and the Shenandoah Astronomical Society (SAS). Telescopes are provided, or you may bring your own. SAS members can teach you how to use it. Bring camp chairs or blankets.

The Star Party on Saturday, July 6th starts at 8:30 p.m. A park ranger will present a short interpretive talk about the importance of preserving the night sky. Afterwards there will be opportunities to use the telescopes for night sky viewing.

Meet at Thoburn's Redoubt (stop no. 2 on the self-guided battlefield tour) on Bowman's Mill Road. This is a remote area and there are no bathroom facilities. The property does not have a street address. Go to coordinates 38°59'55.4"N, 78°19'10.7"W or follow these directions: From U.S. Highway 11 just south of Middletown, turn onto Water Plant Road. Go 1 mile to the intersection with Long Meadow Road. Turn right onto Long Meadow Road. Go 0.1 mile. Turn right onto Bowman's Mill Road. Go 1.4 miles. Thoburn's Redoubt is marked by an auto tour sign (stop no. 2). Turn right into the property.

Food, fun and FIREWORKS! The NOVA 4-H Center will open the gates at 5:30PM with plenty of time for you to find some scrumptious treats from a variety of food trucks as you sit back to enjoy the sounds of the American Legion Community Band starting at 7:30PM. Then, FIREWORKS at dusk!

Parking along the 4H Center Drive will be $10.
Parking off Harmony Hollow Road will be $5.

Rock Bottom Band performing tonight at Firepit Friday at Shenandoah Valley Golf Club from 6-9PM for a free concert. This event is family and pet friendly and food is available for purchase.

We hope to see everyone for our Fire Pit Friday this week! As always no need to make a reservation, just bring a lawn chair or blanket to relax and listen to great music.

Yesterday a commemoration was held at the Warren County Government Center to honor Dr. Joseph Warren the namesake of Warren County, Virginia. The program was provided by the Colonel James Wood II Chapter Virginia Society of the Sons of the American Revolution along with wreath presentations given by the Colonel James Wood II Chapter VASSAR, Culpeper Minutemen Chapter VASSAR, Fairfax Resolves Chapter VASSAR and the Sgt. Major John Champe Chapter VASSAR.

Today marks the birthdate of Major General Dr. Joseph Warren, June 11, 1741. He was a Patriot, Martyr and one of the key figures of the American Revolution.

Shenandoah River State Park has a fun filled Memorial Day weekend planned for you and your family! Attention all Junior Rangers! What a fun and exciting way to learn about the outdoors in Junior Ranger Camp at Shenandoah River State Park this summer. This is a great opportunity for the kids to learn about wilderness survival, plant and animal identification and more. There will be one session for ages 10-14 and one session for ages 6-9. Camp is $50 per child and pre-registration is required. Please note that this is a day camp only and there are no provided overnight accommodations.
