Fulton, Callaway County,MO has hosted five American Presidents: CSA Jefferson Davis (1875), Harry Truman (4 times), Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan (twice), VP George H. W. Bush (twice) and invited Bill Clinton and George W. Bush but both declined. Seven "one a be's" have appeared.: I'm sure Bethany College Delt Brother Champ Clark as MO 9th District Congressman would have visited Fulton, VP Hubert Humphrey, Senator Michael Dukakis ( his campaign bus drove thru the county on US 54 & I 70), AR First Lady Hillary Clinton at William Woods University campaigning for her husband, Senator/S of State John Kerry, Senator Bernie Sanders, and Robert Kennedy, Jr. VP Richard Cheney spoke at Westminster twice for both campaigns. Four British PM's have visited Westminter: Sir Winston S. Churchill, Edward Heath, Lady Margaret Thatcher and John Major. Austrian Chancellor Julius Raab, Soviet Leader Mikail Gorbachev, and Polish President L**h Walesa all spoke at Westminster College.

New Year's Day with our friend Warren @ Hollrah Tours ... first we visited Graham Caves. A rare sandstone cave used for shelter for the ancient Dalton and Archaic period Native Americans. Graham Caves once belonged to Daniel Boone's son, Daniel Morgan Boone and was the first archaeological site designated a National Historic Landmark in 1961.
Followed along the beginning of the Gray Ghost Trails where we came upon the only building, a school house, Danville Female Academy (1853-1865) and Chapel, which union troops left standing after burning down the town.
And Stargazing, viewing the beautiful Venus and Waxing Moon.

Opossums have been known to exhibit a high degree of resistance to the venom of venomous snakes such as rattlesnakes and coral snakes. While we cannot confirm the claim of oposums withstanding up to 80 rattlesnake or coral snake bites, they do have some unique biological mechanisms that make them more resistant to snake venom than many other animals. One such mechanism is their ability to produce a protein called Lys49-phospholipase A2, which binds to and neutralizes the venom of certain types of snakes.

Regarding the discovery of an antidote to poisonous rattlesnake venom, it is true that researchers have made significant progress in understanding how opossums are able to resist snake venom, and this has led to the development of a potential antidote.

“She would have been 7 years old on Feb 27. I rescued her when she was 2 days old. She had been released several times and always stayed close to home. she came back to give birth to her babies. Watching her delivery and raising her kits was the most amazing experience I have ever had being a rehabber. She was a fighter, she survived distemper, she was poisoned, several different attacks in the wild. The distemper left her with neurological issues, that point she was deemed non-releasable. She has been indoors with me for almost 5 years now. Her and I have been so much together. We both dependent on each other she could make it without me and I couldn't make it without her. The bond that her and I developed with each other was like no other that I've ever experienced. NAWTY fell asleep on my chest her last night and when I woke up she was still laying on my chest she looked up at me and licked my chin once then took a few deep breaths and she was gone. My heart is hurting so bad. I am totally lost without her. She was my soulmate there's no words that can describe how much I loved her. Thank you for accepting me into this group. And I'm sending my heartfelt condolences to all that have lost their love. Many blessings to you all.

Happy Birthday, Ellie!
Today is Holocaust Survivor Eleanor (Ellie) Merar's birthday. Born in Lauterechen, Germany, Ellie and her family lived an uneventful life until 1935 when she began to be treated differently at school and her father's business began to suffer. Her parents sent her to live with an aunt and uncle in France, but she returned after six months. Eventually, the family decided to seek sponsorship to the US from a family member living in Terra Haute, Indiana. They arrived in New York in July 1937 and moved to Chicago in 1942, where they opened a grocery store/deli in Rogers Park. https://ihm.ec/ellie-merar,

We left today to adopt our child. When we arrived we saw her inseparable from Mavrouli, her brother. The volunteers told us that he was black and that unfortunately he was left alone because he was the only brother nobody wanted. I looked at the man "And then we thought, we want both at the same time!!!! Today we have become a family of 4!!! Let's go home!!!! I wish everyone to live so happily." 💪💪

“Churchill’s poem seems to recognize something important,” Churchill Fellow and Professor of History at Westminster College Sam Goodfellow explains. “Insulated by the progress of science and lulled by the many years of pandemic-free existence, and despite progress, we humans are still susceptible to the power of nature.” Click the link below to learn more. https://news.westminster-mo.edu/campus-life/teen-winston-churchill-poem-finds-new-audience-during-covid-19-pandemic/
