Day 2: Before we left Calgary, I gave George and John a piece of my mind at and finally understood what was all about. then took us up into the Rockies, and we checked into , and I wasted absolutely no time walking across the infamous lake while it is still frozen over. Lake Louise has been on my list for a long time, and I can finally check it off. There's only one way to do this destination properly, and we are doing it. Somehow, my sunglasses broke while they were in my coat pocket. The hotel concierge had a new pair in my hands within minutes. It's not easy for five-star hotels to become Virtuoso Preferred Properties, and the ones that do are there for a reason. This hotel was built in the late 19th century and has been a mascot of true luxury ever since. Today is dog sledding day so it's time to go get some breakfast and strap on my snow boots.

Passenger comradery. Some people like to meet new and fun people when they travel - others do not. However, what ALL passengers are hoping for is a friendly environment where you feel included and accepted. This can't happen unless the environment is just right. Uniworld Boutique River Cruises does a great job of providing an atmosphere of sophistication and fun at the same time. These three couples just met each other two days ago. They now eat all three meals together, have all hit the dance floor together, and have all explored castles and unfamiliar villages together. We have met or said hi to almost every passenger onboard, and not a single one of them seems to feel left out or unwanted. Passenger comradery needs to happen organically, but it can only do so if the conditions are just right. Uniworld provides that environment.

I would love to tell you all about our first day in Germany, but today's focus is cuisine. Uniworld Boutique River Cruises isn't 5-star luxury simply for ambiance and service (though they excel at both)... True luxury requires the ability to wow your palate as well. Every ingredient served was clearly carefully selected for each dish. What's really amazing is that the quality doesn't change even if you have food allergies. I'm onboard with vegetarians, vegans, anti-gluteners, etc... ALL have been just as wow'd as us "eat anythingers".

Today, we bid farewell to Amsterdam as we boarded the Uniworld Boutique River Cruises S.S. Antoinette. What a beautiful ship! The boarding process was so simple. The ship was a 10-minute ride from our hotel. We showed up at 9am. Uniworld crew met us AT THE CAR to take our luggage. They escorted us onboard, and had us checked-in in under a minute. We took a short stroll back to the city center of Amsterdam and returned at 12:30pm just in time for lunch. The first meal of any cruise, really sets the tone and lunch DID NOT DISSAPOINT. We had so many dishes to choose from. My favorites were the spinach tortellini and croque monsieur. We set sail at 3:30pm and later had our welcome and safety meeting with the Captain and our Cruise Manager just before dinner. We already met a few couples that have instantly become our friends. Day one has already revealed that days 2-8 are going to be AMAZING! Next stop tomorrow is Cologne, Germany.

Hi There! My name is Jeremy and I handle the sales and operations at CVI. My wife Missy and I are going to take you with us from Amsterdam to Basel as we sail for the next week with Uniworld Boutique River Cruises down the Rhine. Today, we arrived at Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam and checked in to the 2-story Rembrandt Suite. Words cannot describe the luxury, space, service and food that we have experienced here thus far. Amsterdam is such a uniquely beautiful and vibrant city, and staying here at Sofitel has made this a special start to an amazing journey through central Europe. I also met with the sales team from Pulitzer Amsterdam which is another of our 5-star preferred properties. There are many ways to see and experience Amsterdam but the best way would be to include one of our preferred properties. Looking forward to taking you all onboard the tomorrow as our river adventure begins!

The wonderful man in the middle who is making us all feel better about our height, is Kees (Godfather Kees). Kees is the director of sales for Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam which is one of the best luxury hotels in Amsterdam. Jeremy can't stop smiling because he will be staying at the property this Fall. We have amazing relationships with all of our Virtuoso partners and they are all eager to put smiles on your face as well.

All work and yet somehow, still all play. We just returned from our 3rd annual Aspire Associates Group Summit in Orlando. Three days filled with meetings, workshops, friends, alligators, falcons, puppies and breathtaking views. Thank you to all of our top preferred cruise lines, hotels and suppliers and a very special thank you to the The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes team. They treat us like family every year which is why next year, we're heading back home to them again. What a week!
