In our 28+ years of finding deals for our clients,
weāve learned a few things, one being that there is no single best (or cheapest) day to book flights. Itās not Sunday, itās not Tuesday at 3PM, and itās not exactly 44 days before your trip.
Skyscanner has historically used its data to say that the cheapest day to buy flights is Sunday, but thereās an inherent flaw in determining a ābest day.ā Just because prices are lower on average on that day doesnāt mean that prices will be lower for your flight. Nor does it mean that you shouldnāt bother looking for flights on other days.
While there isnāt a best day to buy flights, there is a time frame when itās a good idea to start searching. Itās called the Goldilocks Window, and itās not too long before the flight but not too close either. Thatās 1ā3 months in advance for domestic trips and 2ā8 months in advance for international trips. A good deal is most likely to pop up during this time. Keep in mind that if youāre planning to travel during peak time, like Christmas and summer, you should start looking even earlier.
