The persona of Mark Twain is returning to Gaffney with his new “Mark Twain Tells Christmas Stories and Interprets ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas’” with a series of December performances.

The three free community event performances are set for:
• Monday, December 9 at 4 pm at the Cherokee County Library in Gaffney
• Friday, December 13 at 7 pm at the Gaffney Visitors Center and Art Gallery
• Saturday, December 14 at 6 pm at the Gaffney Elks Lodge 1305

The performance is part of a new series of community events sponsored by the Cherokee Alliance of Visual Artists (CAVA).

Also, the Cherokee County United Lions Club will be on hand at each show to provide free vision screening to patrons as part of the Lions International program of promoting eye care especially for children.

Twain was most recently here performing “Mark Twain Tells Scary Tales” for Halloween, and now takes on the celebration of the Christmas season.

Twain, one of the nation’s most iconic literary figures, has written much about Christmas and the holidays even writing a letter as Santa Claus to his daughter. With Christmas as one of his favorite holidays, Twain takes literary time to remind us about the importance of the Christmas season and its importance to our lives.

Twain will also sing that Christmas classic “Oh Holy Night”!

Gaffney resident David Lush takes on the persona of Mark Twain in these presentations. He has performed Twain in his one-man show “Mark Twain: Then and Now!” in seven states over the years in a variety of performing venues.

The public is encouraged to attend one of the performances as it will most certainly enrich the holiday season for individuals, families or groups.

And a special thanks to CAVA, the Gaffney Visitors Center and Art Gallery and the Cherokee County Public Library Gaffney Branch for their support with the holiday events!
