Wintering is a life process.
Soon we will settle down for a long winter’s nap at Cricket Cove.
We will miss seeing the cabin all covered in snow this year.
Here’s to a brighter springtime with all kinds of renewal.
Happy Holidays everyone!

Plants and animals don’t fight the winter; they don’t pretend it’s not happening and attempt to carry on living the same lives that they lived in the summer. They prepare. They adapt. They perform extraordinary acts of metamorphosis to get them through.
Winter is a time of withdrawing from the world, maximising scant resources, carrying out acts of brutal efficiency and vanishing from sight; but that’s where the transformation occurs.
Winter is not the death of the life cycle, but its crucible. Once we stop wishing it were summer, winter can be a glorious season in which the world takes on a sparse beauty and even the pavements sparkle.
It’s a time for reflection and recuperation, for slow replenishment, for putting your house in order.
Doing those deeply unfashionable things; slowing down, letting your spare time expand, getting enough sleep, resting ...

Listen-whatever it is that makes you wake up, whatever it is that makes you feel a moment of peace or a glimmer of hope, just keep it close. Please, live for it. Make sure that you focus on it. Make sure that you make time for it. I don't care what it is.
You have to understand that happiness does not have to be this big all-consuming thing. Sometimes happiness is your morning cup of coffee. Sometimes it is the smell in the street after it rains, or your favorite song played on repeat for three hours straight. Sometimes happiness is your friend's laughter or the way the sky looks through the trees in your favorite park.
If it keeps you going, if it ignited something within you, it doesn't matter how small or grand it is. Just hold on to it. Let it save you. ~Bianca Sparacino

This photo came up in memories.

It is truly a reminder to slow down!
Slow down when you are driving. Slow down and relax by the creek awhile.
And for heaven’s sake, the creek needs to slow down and chill so that we can get around to the work of rebuilding the cabin! Special thanks to neighbors and friends and especially to Jen & Duane Koser for your endless kindness.

Resilience is the word of the moment.
The land is not ours to own, we are merely caretakers of the creek’s life. We ride the waves of life alongside of it.
High or low, fast or slow, it is a stark reminder to appreciate all that you have because it could be gone tomorrow.

The water line in the tree is where Brians hand is. I just can't fathom it.
