My heart has been heavy for the beautiful people of Hawaii. I have been blessed to visit historic Lahaina town & fell in love with the island and people. Lahaina town was the original capital of Hawaii under the Hawaiian kingdom for over 25 years, and the history and culture of this town is so rich - designated as a National Historic Landmark District. Front Street is one of the "Greatest Streets in America".
I remember purchasing hand made Aloha bracelets from an artesian jewelry shop owner on Front St. The store owner spent time with me, explaining how she made each one and what every stone represented. Each bracelet came with a card with 1 Corinthians 13 printed on the back, God's definition of LOVE. It was signed "Made with Aloha". She wouldnโt let me leave the store until she turned on the music and performed a traditional Hawaiian dance, just to thank me for coming in to her little store on Front Street. I wonder, is she ok? Are any of them ok?
I have several travel clients that were booked for Maui this week, and in the coming weeks. I've had to reschedule them all to other islands and destinations very last minute, as the focus remains on taking care of the Hawaiian residents.
The Aloha spirit is strong and I pray for all of those affected! Our friends and fellow Americans in Maui need prayers but they also need financial help. Let's show them some Aloha.
