Beach-Front Sunrise Galveston

After conducting inspections, the City of Galveston will reopen the following beach access points on Tuesday:

Access Point 6 – Pocket Park 1
Access Point 7 – Sunny Beach
Access Point 10 – Hershey Beach
Access Point 12 – Bermuda Beach (drive-on beach only; street parking closed)
Access Points 13 & 14 – Pocket Park 3
Access Point 16 – 13-Mile Road
Access Point 17 – 15-Mile Road

All other City of Galveston maintained beach access points, west of the seawall, will be closed due to ongoing utility work, clean-up, and beach access dune walkover safety assessments. Inspections of the closed beach accesses will occur daily, and as soon as conditions are deemed safe, by the City of Galveston, they will be re-opened. As beach accesses are opened the information will be disseminated out to the public.

The City of Galveston has opened a cooling center at the McGuire Dent Recreation Center, and it will be open today from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The recreation center is located at 28th and Seawall, 2222 28th Street, and residents or visitors will be able to come in and escape the heat.
