Hitting the water this weekend? Whether you're planning to enjoy our local rivers, creeks or ocean, be sure water safety is part of the plan.

✅ Always recreate with a buddy.
✅ Don’t use alcohol or drugs (including certain prescription medications) before or while swimming, diving or boating.
✅ Wear a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket when boating or fishing, even if you don’t intend to enter the water.
✅ Small children and inexperienced swimmers should also wear a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket or flotation device while swimming. **Water wings are not recommended for small children**
✅ If at the beach, never turn your back to the ocean.
✅ If at the river, check the current before jumping in.
