Royce grew-up in Garden City, and went on to play offensive guard at the University of Georgia. He played 5 seasons in the NFL. On January 14th, 1972 the city declared this day Royce Smith Day.

As a member of the Garden City CVB - Board of Directors, her volunteer time is given unselfishly to help Garden City grow. Explaining why she chose to serve on the board she said, “I’ve lived here for over 20 years. I believe it is Garden City’s time to grow. Situated between Savannah and Hilton Head, we’re a hidden secret that needs to be discovered.” Her non-volunteer time is spent in her consulting business, D. Williams Consulting LLC, specializing in Organizational Development, Professional Coaching, & Team Building Firm. She also operates a non-profit, S2S Facts, Inc., which seeks to improve women’s relations - through stimulating unity, while elevating self-compassion.
