Step into the world of sculptor and self-taught artist Ian Love with “Echoes of the Forest,” on view upstairs in the Artists’ Corner beginning Saturday, February 1. Using trees that would have been thrown away, Ian transforms them into amazing works of art and furniture. Every piece is hand-carved with care, making each tree’s story come alive.

🗓️ Save the Date: On Wednesday, April 16, we will be hosting workshops with Ian Love. Meet the artist, discover how he creates his work, and practice some of the skills Ian uses to make his art. Visit https://bit.ly/eoflicm for more information.

“It was like having an older sibling to ask questions and receive advice from! It was helpful to have someone with me as I navigated the college application process who had gone through the same thing.” —a Green Teens mentee

Have you ever had a mentor or been one to someone else? If so, you understand how impactful mentorship can be. During , we are celebrating our Green Teens mentoring program. The Green Teens are local high school students who volunteer as part of our STEM Explorers program to develop play-based science programs for our visitors. Over the last two years, we have built a network of former Green Teens who have continued to volunteer as mentors to our current Green Teens. As part of this mentoring program, Green Teens are matched up with mentors for both individual and group conversations to discuss topics such as college preparation, how to choose classes, how to stay in touch with friends after high school graduation, and more. We are proud of the mentees and mentors alike for their commitment to helping each other. A special thank you to PwC Charitable Foundation, Inc. for their generous support of the Green Teens mentoring program.

The STEM Explorers program is supported by National Grid.

As Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said in his 1964 Address to the Berlin Jazz Festival, “Everybody has the blues. Everybody longs for meaning. Everybody needs to love and be loved. Everybody needs to clap hands and be happy. Everybody longs for faith. In music, especially this broad category called jazz, there is a steppingstone towards all of these.”

As we celebrate Dr. King this weekend, join us for a live jazz concert, and experience the kind of music that he felt captured the full range of human experience. This concert, which will explore Louis Armstrong’s rise to prominence, is aligned with the Jazz at Lincoln Center residency at Tilles Center for the Performing Arts.

Through the generosity of our Musical Explorers! concert series sponsors, Roni Kohen-Lemle and Robert Lemle, we are able to bring this performance to you at a special ticket price of $5 with museum admission ($4 for Members), $10 concert only.
