It's the perfect time to visit the Smokies and experience the beauty of Fall. The crisp and cool air, along with the festive decorations in town, make for a delightful atmosphere. There are plenty of activities and events to partake in, such as the Harvest Festival at Dollywood and Oktoberfest at Ober Gatlinburg. And for those who can't make it in person, we will be sharing pictures, videos, and live updates so you can still feel like you are here with us. Summertime in Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a time to enjoy the waterfalls and other water features of the park. Ramsey Cascades, pictured here, is the tallest waterfall within the boundaries of the park.

The hike to capture this photo was one of my most memorable experiences in the Smokies, so it will always hold a special place in my memory.

❄️RARE OCURRENCE❄️ over Gatlinburg this week captured by a dear friend of ours from her home on what we call Miracle Mountain! These are light pillars!

Light pillars are an optical phenomenon caused when light is refracted by ice crystals. These lights tend to take on the color of the light source.

They appear as beams of light to the observer. It is usually caused by street lights. However, any source of light can create a light pillar given proper conditions.

For ice crystals to form, the conditions need to be extremely calm and cold, without wind. For the light pillars to show, the ice crystals need to be near the ground. Typically, ice crystals are small enough to remain suspended in the air and only form when temperatures are below zero [F].

God put on a show in the Smokies! Absolutely beautiful!
