Congratulations to Boudicca’s Celtic Pub. For the third straight year Boudicca’s is the winner of the 2024 GatlinBURGER Meister contest. They received the most votes this year for their Scottish Bonnie Burger. Great job Adam. Look for Boudicca’s Celtic Pub on the Gatlinburg Map. They are in the Village in downtown Gatlinburg, back in the corner and try some of their delicious food.

Mike at has started the initial ‘blocking out’ on a major tree carving project. We can already see the shapes of a bear, owl, raccoons, squirrel, tree frog, woodpecker, sunflower, trillium, rhododendron and a fireplace chimney.
Woogity Wood Works is one of the best carvers in Gatlinburg. Check out some of his amazing carvings out on the East Parkway just past the Hillbilly Deluxe.

Where did it all start? 50 years ago in Waitsfield, Vermont, here is a picture of the first hand-drawn map that would eventually become Discovery Map International, in more that 100 cities and towns. My how things have changed. Back then even the ads were hand-drawn. 😂

Sad to hear about the passing of Harold Thompson. Harold and his wife Nancy have been active business owners in Gatlinburg for decades owning and operating the Smoky Mountain Angler and the Smoky Mountain Spinnery, both in the Winery Square on the East Parkway. Both shops have had ads on the Discovery Map of Gatlinburg since it first started 18 years ago. He will be missed by many people. RIP

Come enjoy Ely's Mill - 25 acre property bordering the Great Smoky mountains National Park where you can explore our 2000 feet of unspoiled, undeveloped, cascading creek and nature trails. Built as a tourist attraction in the late 1920s, Ely's Mill is one of the few remaining pieces of "Old Gatlinburg". Privately owned, it is still run by the original family who live on site. In its natural setting alongside the beautiful Roaring Fork creek, the Mill features local crafts, antiques, and honey (seasonally) as well as two overnight rental cabins. Preparation began today on a major piece of carving by Woogity Wood Works at the Calhoun House Inn & Suites as the Tree Busters came in with a crane and a team of experienced tree cutters to cut away the dead limbs and leave a large section for Mike to carve. Excited to see the design he comes up with. Stay tuned for more progress coming soon.
