Our dear neighbors at Ober Mountain have been celebrating the 50th anniversary of the tram this week.
The original owner of Ober Mountain came to the chalet a few times and sat on the deck with us telling stories of what his workers had seen going on at the chalet…Oh the crazy stories are ones we laugh about. ☺️

Our neighbor the Ober Tram is celebrating it’s 49th Birthday today! The original Ober Gatlinburg Aerial Tramway began operation August 5, 1973. Over 20 million guests have taken the 10 minute, 2.1 mile trip ascending from 1,340 feet in the valley to 2,676 feet on the mountain. Fun fact: The chalet was just 3 years old when the tram began operating! The original owners were so mad, they sold the chalet, a decision they later regretted. #visitgatlinburg #obergatlinburg #vacation #smokymountains

The Smokies, Gatlinburg Trail, GSMNP

We came in for a quick summer maintenance trip the past few days. We were able to sneak in a quick walk along the Gatlinburg trail, one of our favorites when we are short on time. It truly allows you to enjoy the beauty of the River and lower vegetation.

Fun fact for the day! Did you know rhododendrons are the Smoky Mtns best thermostat in the winter? As the temperatures drop the leaves droop and begin to curl!
