Shoreside Cottage, GOTL

Spring, Summer and Fall cottage rental in Geneva on the Lake, OH Lake front with a shared beach. Mapleton Beach in the middle of the “strip”.

1750 square feet, 4 bedrooms ( one downstairs) , living room , 2 bathrooms, laundry area, kitchen and eating area for up to 12. Sleeps 10. 3 queens, and 4 twin beds, central air conditioning, deck, 4 burner gas grill, picnic table.

Opportunity for a guest stay in August. Friday August, 16th to Friday August 23rd. Our current guest ( still coming unless a replacement is found). Family issue and all cannot come. 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, AC central, linens and towels, lakefront view from the swing or deck. Mapleton Beach with a shared beach.

Added the cable system to hide the cable and wires leading to the TV. Zip tied the wires together at the top.

Added a small TV to the porch for Sue to be able to play her SirusXM out there. It is connected to the dish, more to do here to try to make it fit in

Sue’s estate sale find from last year. A classic lakefront home that was demolished. We saved this table and chairs. Sue has spray painted. A nice piece!

The lower landscaped bed is now finished. Added the solar lights from end to end.

Moved some of the tables around and added lights to the new bed on the lower level

Added new crushed stone to the driveway. It’s smaller and easier to walk on. It is over the top of the original larger gravel. Did the lakefront and back driveway. The truck operator was as good as they get, putting most of the rock down to a depth of about 2 inches

Today’s project, cut a bed in front of the rocks by the swing. Eventually, the bed will go from end to end, so I am half way to complete. Dug it out, moved all of the grass, added top soil and mulch. I will probably cramp up tonight, looking forward to that!

So cleaning up the area between our cottage and my neighbors. It always seems to develop weeds during the spring and summer. In fact, when we purchased the place in 2021 it was a jungle back there.

Cleared out the weeds, raked it smooth, put in landscape membrane and added rock. I will be adding another layer of rock and continuing this towards the back.

A fun progression from the old floor tear up, to adding a new underlayment to finish( new toilet and floor). Also added a new toilet floor connection and new dresser.

Finished the trim in the middle bedroom. Found this technique to end a piece with a back cut. Had to do that several times due to the electrical, a small margin of error on the circular saw. I kind of like it.

Finished up the upstairs bathroom for now. We will upgrade the toilet later this summer?!? Caulking today.

Toilet is hooked up to the water, tested and working. Caulk around the toilet and shower area.

A little more interior work , trim in the lower bathroom. Painted to exposed wood with mold and mildew primer under the downstairs shower. Had some extra in the tray so continued and finished in the upstairs bathroom.

Getting closer to being finished with the downstairs bathroom project. Have to set the new toilet and finish the rest of the moulding. The longest part of this process is the taking of measurements and making the cuts.

Flooring project in the downstairs bathroom should be finished tomorrow. I will then need to add the perimeter moulding.

Finished adding the under layment. Ready to add the flooring.

Moulding added along with the shelving unit. Still some work to do.

Work continues on the floor for the downstairs bathroom. Took out the bad spots, replaced the toilet gasket and started to put the thin cover layer on. Once finished. I will be adding the luxury vinyl plank flooring. Hopefully, starting this weekend during the rainy Saturday.

So this weekends projects were to move the furniture into the now painted middle bedroom ( have to add dust ruffle and curtains )and to finish tearing up the downstairs bathroom floor. Tomorrow I have to get another blade for the dremel.

Love this tool and attachment, great for getting under flooring with adhesives. Working on pulling up the old floor in the downstairs bathroom. #

Painting of the upstairs middle bedroom. Using Marshmallow Bunny . Finished the walls and ceiling. Tomorrow is the floor.

Middle bedroom is now cleared out. Ready for painting. Floor, walls and the ceiling. I do not like moving Queen mattresses
