Now booking - Fall Chinook (Sep-Dec), Winter Steelhead 2024 (January-April), Spring Chinook (April-J This is a "bucket list" trip for any serious salmon angler.

My business began in 2002, and since then I have been a full time professional fishing guide targeting salmon and steelhead on premiere NW Oregon rivers and bays. Fishing is my only job, and I can honestly say I love going to work !

--Starting in 2008 I have been working with Tomans King Camp on the Nushagak River in SW Alaska. From the middle of June through July 10th we are fishing one of the

best returns of King Salmon (Chinook) on the planet.To hook between 50 and 100 salmon a day is not out of the question! Check out Tomansoutdoor.com for more info on this fabulous experience.

--Several times a year I present fishing clinics and seminars throughout the region helping anglers improve their skills.In the past I have enjoyed giving seminars for Fisherman's Marine, The Oregon Fishing Club, CCA, and ANWS .

--Recently I was a finalist for a co host position for a live television call in show based on fishing and hunting in the NW .During the process I enjoyed 2 different live television appearances and several guest spots in a variety of commercials that aired over a 2 week period. The show is called Outdoor GPS and is on Comcast cable several times a week. While I did not "win" the position of co-host, it opened my eyes to several other possibilities outside the guiding industry.,

Ps a few more open dates on the Columbia in Astoria(crabbing too) and near Portland, before we move to other fisheries like tributary coho near Portland and Estuary and river Chinook at the coast. Trips to the gorge for Chinook and coho are also on the menu.

It's official! The limit has been upped to 3 fish in Astoria, and one can be a Chinook (King). Ends 9/22 and starts this Thursday the 12th. Who can help fill the boat and your freezer? Did I mention crab too?

Fishing is borderline silly right now. Doubles, triples and quads happen daily. Can we get a 5 piece?

Listening to a meeting regarding our fishery this fall. We could be looking at a Chinook retention period from Thursday 9/12-9/20. Updates when it's official. I do have open seats and open boats available and crabbing for the next few days as well (tomorrow thru Sunday)

Father and daughter trips are pretty cool. Hard fighting coho and limits of crabs for all!

Fishing is wide open, and crab is getting going better each day.

Coho madness is in full swing! Doubles, triples, quads, Oh My ! Come visit us in Astoria, and see what all the rave is. This year is reminding me a lot of 2014, and that year was epic all the way to November. These fish will only get larger as time goes on.

Spoiler alert: Heaviest keeper of the year taken today on my boat. 26.75 pounds for Lucky angler Jed Alger.

Backstory: Half of yesterday's guests stuck around Astoria and wanted to try their luck again after such a great day of fishing. Well, today for me wasn't fast and furious, but once we found them it was pretty good fishing. Jed started with a nice keeper coho. Larry followed with a another solid keeper. As we moved towards "the barn" to end kur half day Jed struck Paydirt after missing a few solid takedowns prior. Battling this Chinook like a seasoned pro, the beast was tamed and high fives exchanged. We were close to our half day being over, and I suggested one last pass for long time guest Larry. Shortly into our troll, his rod folds over with our final Chinook keeper. Thanks to Shortbus Flashers for the super series flasher that enticed the beast.

Fishing is about as good as it gets right now in Astoria. These fish are aggressive and biting well and are really putting up some great battles. It's starting to resemble some of the 'Good Old Days' of old. The action can be intense and fast paced!

I have open seats on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday. If I had to make a prediction, I would guess those three days are going to be extremely productive. The tides are right, the fish are here, it's creating The perfect Storm of insanity.

Almost famous but not quite there yet Kenny is by himself tomorrow. Unless, someone wants to step up and watch me throw his fish back to the waters (late start, so you can call/msg/txt late). Thursday has one seat with Kenny and crew, and Friday is WIDE open for a group. I also have days/seats next week, and also during the non select season.

Now is also a great time to secure your September and beyond dates. Crabbing/coho in Astoria, Columbia gorge Chinook/coho, Bay Chinook and Coho (non select certain days), tributary coho drift trips, and so much more. Absolutely love this time of year!!

Working on my calendar for the upcoming summer and fall fisheries. If you would like to fish in Astoria this year, now is a great time to get a hold of me. It's also never to early to secure other fall trips like tributary coho or Fall Chinook bay/river fishing.

Yes, the moderately famous Kenny is looking for others to share some days again this year. Here are the days, and how many seats are available. If you followed our adventures from last year, you'll understand ;) . If not, come and find out.

I do have days available for full boats, including a couple of weekend dates. You can shoot me a message, or give me a call or text, I will get you lined out on what's available.

I will likely start this fishery with ocean fishing in mid-July, and it continues through the end of September in Astoria, when we add crabbing to our coho trips (when tidally conducive). If we are in the ocean (July,August as available), crabbing could also be an option to add to the trip.

Locally we are still targeting spring Chinook and summer steelhead for the next month or so. These are drift boat trips, or raft trips down a local tributary. Or a short trip to Oregon City in the evening or morning banker's hours. As other fishing options become available, I'll be sure to post.

The summer and fall seasons are being set by the powers that be. We will know very soon what the nuts and bolts are, but from what I saw it will be favorable. There will be plenty of opportunities to fill your freezer and BBQ on the horizon.

It's time to start planning your summer fishing adventures.We will have a short 4 day summer Chinook season in June on the Columbia. Then it will be on to ocean salmon or rafting tributaries for salmon in June/July. I know, that's quite the variety, but it's what we live for here!

Astoria salmon will be hatchery only for most of August, before a small keep any Chinook window starting the 31st thru September 3rd(4 days).

Then we move to crabbing and coho!

Oh, and did I mention we are still catching steelhead right now? And...there are spring Chinook starting to show up. As always, I offer short "bankers hours trips" on the Willamette. Message me for more details....

Getting all prepped for kicking off my winter steelhead season in the coming week. The weather and water have been a bit unruly so far. But have no fear, our season lasts into May some years. If hands on fishing is your thing, this is the season for you!

Call or message me today and see what's available. With a driftboat, raft and a jetsled at our disposal, we can find a trip for you. Or for you and some friends, as I can take up to 3 people a lot of places. Weekend only? Not a problem, I have some available. Solo angler? Not a problem, I have people to match you up with. Friday's ocean forecast looks nice. So if the river is slower than expected, we can slip outside if conditions cooperate. Weather looks fabulous Friday . 4 open seats. Probably drop the crabpots too.

Crab and salmon trips out of Hammond this week. Both crabbing and fishing are steadily improving. The coho limit is 3, we can keep wild King salmon, and the crab limit is 12 each. The tides line up for some excellent crabbing and good fishing.

I have open boats on Thursday,Friday and 2 seats on Sunday. Come join the fun!

Finished with 9 nice Coho from the ocean by 0830 this morning. Crabbing is still just ok, but should get better by mid month. I think with the tides building this week, the river should fill back up with fish, they are just outside the mouth of the Columbia. I do have a few seats next week, and the following week will also have crab dates available. Please get a hold of me if you want it on the action. It's about as good as it gets.

Today we were heading in from the ocean at 10:10 with their 10 fish. 3 Kings and 7 feisty coho.Ended up with 15 crab, still not great crabbing, but its a nice added bonus.

The moderately famous Kenny and I hit the water for a few hours today. We threw back his fish, per usual tradition. One was a fish too dark to keep, one fish was stolen by a ninja predator moments before we could net it, (we landed the jaw), and another bite turned into a story only to be told on the boat on future trips. I'm now off for a couple of days, before returning to duty on Tuesday. I think there will be pretty good action in this river next week. There's already decent numbers of fish around, and more coming each day. *****August 14 (Monday) just opened up due to a change in my guest's travel plans. I now have a wide open boat that day.****** List of openings: August 9th (3 seats)--Great tide series!
